Florida has a long streak of voting for the incumbent. Bill Clinton lost it in 1992 then won it in 1996. Bush went from winning by 500 votes in 2000 to winning by 5% in 2004. Trump only won by 3% that's not the same territory as Ohio or Missouri - swing states that are long gone. Florida's a growing state and young people there aren't happy with the direction the state has gone.

There is also the abortion referendum and the Senate race.

These are just proposals. Personally I think it's ludicrous. Probably just maintaining a presence for the party in the state for future elections, and probably doing it also just to personally spite Trump.

Delusion. NC is their one real pickup possibility.

It’s nonsensical for a campaign to completely write off a state that they only lost by 3.4%, even if trends or polling indicate that it’s not going to go their way. I expect the Biden to also put some money in the New York media market, even though he’s zero risk of losing New York or New Jersey. That’s just how campaigns work. “Spending all your money in six states and spend $0 everywhere else” is a child’s idea of how campaigns should function.

There’s also the fact that downballot races exist.

And there’s something to be said about self-fulfilling prophecies. If Democrats write off Florida as unwinnable, then it will become unwinnable far sooner.

Very good

Well if they don't invest in Florida then they certainly wouldn't have much of a chance to win it.
They won't win it now. Do you see the GOP campaigning in VA or CO? No, because they aren't idiots like the Democrats are with Florida.

Rs have zero chance in M(, PA and WI there were way more D ballots than R ballots and Ds outnumber Rs in all three states

Well it appears as if the Biden campaign is actually opening a field office in Tampa, and VP Harris is going to Jacksonville so they aren't bluffing. The reasoning is the abortion referendum is giving them an opening.

I don't quite agree with this allocation of resources but if they have extra money to burn, I guess they can go for it

Florida Republicans reached a 900,000 Voter Registration lead the same Day Biden opened up a Field Office in Tampa.

It's not just Polls. Please explain how does Biden erase a 1M Voter Registration Deficit? Republicans will have a 1,000,000 lead by November in FL.

Florida is no longer in Bidens own hands. It relies on Republicans staying home!

Maybe they think RFK will help?

FWIW democrats have had a registration advantage my entire life in NC and it's done nothing. It does not correlate 1:1 with winning. LA, KY have a dem edge yet they lose by huge margins. AZ and CO were examples of an R advantage in headcount.

It's such a massive gap in FL that it would require some anti-Trump Republicans voting for Biden. I got the impression that wasn't the flavor in that state but I'm not the wizard of elections.

Breaking news: FL is a lost cause.

Still worth at least trying to force Trump into defese here. Every dime he spends on FL he can't spend in the 6-7 states that actually matter.

As you correctly pointed out Florida is not in the Democrats and Bidens hands anymore. It would require the November Turnout among Republicans to be extraordinarily low and Biden I don't think can bank on that.

At the Book Closing on October 19th 2020 Democrats enjoyed a 134,000+ Registration Advantage.

Trump hasn't spent a dime on Florida and I don't think he will. He's going to rely on the strong FL Republican State Party to do their job and they certainly have done it over the last several Election Cycles in the Sunshine State.

They are building for the future. Democrats know that they need more than 25 states where they can win a Senate race.

Imagine thinking that a few Biden ads now will save Florida Democrats years from now.

Is there a once-swing state that seemed like it was gone for one party, but then became a swing state again?

Unless the Florida Democrats can stop the downward trend with Hispanics in South Florida the State is gone for the forseeable future.

Cubans were always back Republicans no matter what BUT Democrats have now also lost the Latin America Hispanics like from Venezuela, Colombia, Nicaragua or Guatemala and President Biden coddling up to Maduro made matters worse for them + Republicans are now making inroads with Puerto Ricans.

Of Course Nikki Fried, the FL Dem Party Chairwoman will never admit it BUT the consistent attack ads mainly by Senator Rick Scott & the FL GOP labelling Democrats as Socialists are working. It worked in 2020 + 2022 and it's working now. Senator Rick Scott is defnining Debbie Mucarsel-Powell early in this Campaign with a barrage of negative ads.
