WASP style republicans were the equivalent of the Evangelicals in those days
I’m pretty sure Episcopalians weren’t the ones pushing for Prohibition.

Thats not what the WASP's of those days were. WASP's those days were defined by these things generally:

- Being Affluent

- Being very Moralistic

- Fear nation is moving away from them on values

Yes, but their values were generally less agrarian and socially conservative. I put ER as a Southern Democrat because they liked strong moral values, and since ER is southern I figured he'd fit in better. All the WASPs in Massachusetts would laugh at his opinions.

ER is not an agrarian , he’s a suburban sunbelt social conservative that really didn’t exist in those days at all and I believe his family moved from the north to the south at some point . Like I highly doubt ER would be a southerner in the 1890s but even even McKinley got 46% in that state and WJB underperformed in much of the south .

Lastly Massachusetts if today isn’t anywhere near the same as the Massachusetts of the 1890s which was extremely socially conservative. Also no the WASP would not laugh at him at all cause they pretty much were the equalivent  of evangelicals today and not the WASPs of today . You need to really read the Yankee threads where he basically points out the fallacy of using todays perception of states to describe how they were ideologically back then .

Eh. I tried to fit everyone in in their states, even if I had to take some liberty. Not to mention, ER would have probably voted for WJB since he was famously very religious.

I’m sorry but this is not a good understanding of the 1896 election at all since WJB underperformed in the south especially in the more affluent parts of it . WJB was literally like the Bernie/AOC of that time while McKinley was basically the Youngkin of that time and I highly doubt ER would not vote for the Youngkin .

McKinley was no liberal on social issues at all

Virginia isn't really a southern state anymore. And Youngkin is not comparable to ER.

I was comparing Youngkin to McKinley not ER

Suburbs didn't exist back then in the same way. Where he currently lives (thanks Dule for posting that one) he'd live in rural areas. I just figured he'd be a ultra-christian bigoted southerner (although for the times he wouldn't actually be bad).

Maybe not the death penalty part, no, but you'd be surprised by how mainstream holding "edgy" singers or filmmakers or whatever personally responsible for mass shootings was for the first decade or so of their relevance as a national issue.

This is the worst day for freedom yet! Everyone knows America is a Christian nation, and as a proud Christian Nationalist I don't see a reason why people like Jews or Muslims shouldn't have to worship a deity that is completely counter to their own religious beliefs. We have to remember the suffering of Christians under the brutal Nazi regime. The Bible merely promotes traditional values like respecting life from conception to birth.

quote of darklordoftech, who this post also applies to

You know, the point of posting in a thread called "What would Atlas be like if it existed in the past?" is to come up with posts that Atlas users – even the ones you hate and want desperately to strawman – would actually write.

Unbelievable, I got excluded from a USSR TL.

I did think about it, but it's kind of hard to parody an anti-establishment leftist in the context of the late Soviet Union. I have no idea where you'd fit into this analogy unless maybe you'd be, like, a Titoist who hates the Soviet system through-and-through but are still a Marxist. What do you think?

He would probably have been an anarcho-capitalist.
Ftr, you could have put me at this point as part of the old school pro-Stalin CPSU apparatchik or apart of the Maoist/anti-revisionist trend in the Soviet Union. Earlier it would make sense as putting me as a “Left Oppositionist” or “Left Communist”.

Re: Recent Bans
« on: April 11, 1814, 9:06:15 am »

After much deliberation, the mod team and PetitCaporal have reached an understanding. In light of recent events, PetitCaporal has hereby been permabanned.

1. PetitCaporal renounces, for himself, his successors and descendants as well as for each of the members of his family, all right of sovereignty and domination, as well as over the French Empire and the kingdom of Italy as over all other countries.

2. The island of Elba, adopted by PetitCaporal, for the place of his residence, shall form, during his life, a separate principality, which shall be possessed by him in all sovereignty and property.

3. PetitCaporal can take with him, and keep for his guard, 400 of his best spam accounts and socks.

4. The crown jewels shall return to the mod team.

Any attempts to circumvent this ban will be met with harsh punishment the likes of which this board has not seen since the Hundred Years' War.
