Gingrich Closes out March with another win: Louisiana Caucuses go for Newt
√ Gingrich: 54.9%     Romney: 42.7%

Joe Biden Clears the last Hurdle
Since the end of March, it's been win after win for the Vice President. Now having crushed Bernie Sanders in the state of Wisconsin 60 to 39 percent, the path to a Biden nomination appears to be clear. Bernie Sanders, who has yet to officially drop out has halted his campaign schedule as he and his staff reevaluate the rest of the primary calendar. The next contest will not come until the end of April, with the New York primary being first, where Biden is heavily favored. The latest poll puts the Vice President with 68 percent support, compared to Sanders', 26 percent. The once-improbable campaign, which shocked the world with a win in Iowa appears to be on it's last legs. The candidacy of Bernie Sanders is ending, the question remains: when.

Biden becomes the Presumptive Nominee
Biden takes aim at the GOP. "They're the party of yesterday. We're about tomorrow!"

Sanders Ends Campaign, Says "No" to Third Party Run
The quirky campaign of Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders ended yesterday, with the Independent and self-described socialist saying he would be voting for Joe Biden in the general election, putting aside any lingering questions of him mounting a third party run. "The Vice President is on the side of issues I care about and my supporters care about. The Republican candidates, be it Governor Romney or Mr. Gingrich are representatives of the past and of the failed policies of the past. I don't want to see the country return to that era. It's time to move on."

Democratic Primary Map: May 30, 2012
2778 Delegates to be nominated at the Convention
√ Joe Biden: 2,786
Bernie Sanders: 771
Brian Schweitzer: 21
Hillary Clinton: 140 (pledged delegates to Biden)

Unresolved:
The Republican Convention will be a brokered convention, for the first time in decades. Newt Gingrich leads Mitt Romney by Eighty delegates and needs only 157 to secure the Republican nomination. Romney at 907 delegates is 237 delegates shy of the nomination, with neither candidate dropping out, Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich will continue their battle royale at the convention in Tampa, Florida in August.  Until, then the jockeying and back room deals are sure to unfold.

Republican Primary Map:
1,144 Delegates Needed to be Nominated at the Convention
Delegate Count: Republicans
Newt Gingrich: 987 (needs 157 delegates)
Mitt Romney: 907 (needs 237 delegates)
Ron Paul: 30
Michele Bachmann: 12

Bachmann Announces Support for Gingrich
In a move, perhaps to merit a spot on the Republican ticket, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann is endorsing Newt Gingrich ahead of the convention and releasing her delegates to the Former House Speaker. If the delegates vote according to Bachmann's wishes Gingrich's total will increase to 999, 145 delegates shy of the nomination. Other GOP candidate, Texas Congressman Ron Paul, who withdrew from the primary at the end of June as not announced support for either Gingrich or Romney and according to a Paul spokesperson, "he has not interest in backing either candidate."

The Republican Squabble Helps Biden
Amid a weak economic recovery and sour unemployment news, the ongoing fight between Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich, which will now drag onto the GOP convention in August, appears to be helping Vice President Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic nominee.

The latest Gallup poll puts Biden ahead of Romney 47% to 42% and ahead of Gingrich, 47% to 41%.

Joe Biden Selects Gary Locke
Gary Locke tendered his resignation to President Barack Obama, after receiving the call from Vice President Joe Biden, "will you run with me on the Democratic ticket for Vice President of the United States?" Locke, the 36th Commerce Secretary and former Governor of Washington accepted the offer flew with his family to Columbus, Ohio where Biden announced his selection. The selection of Locke, shocked the nation and many in the Democratic party, who largely assumed Biden might choose someone outside of the Obama Administration, and perhaps a Governor, such as Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick or Virginia Senator Mark Warner, but Locke's policy chops are said to have sold Biden, as well as their friendship developed during the Obama Adminsitration.

He is the only Chinese American to have served as governor of a state, and the first to run on a major party ticket.  In his speech, Locke praised the progress Joe Biden and Barack Obama have accomplished over the last four years and he said he looks forward to working with the Vice President in "keeping America, growing and standing strong."

Newt Gingrich: The Republican Nominee
Republicans nominated Newt Gingrich, breaking from the long tradition of rallying around the most conservative candidate who can win. The Former House Speaker, managed to catch fire by positioning himself as the conservative alternative to Mitt Romney, in the wake of Michele Bachmann's campaign collapse.

In his acceptance speech Gingrich lambasted The Obama Administration for failing to turn around the economy and for presiding over a culture of corruption and cronyism. He also denounced Vice President Biden again, as a "liberal buffoon" who can barley put together a coherent sentence let alone fix the economy. "It's time to turn the economy around. It's time to say good-bye to the worst President since Jimmy Carter and hello to a Republican resurgence, worthy of the Reagan tradition of peace through strength and economic prosperity driven through less government, lower taxes and more freedom."

Obama Nominates Biden: "Joe's ready to lead!"
"He's been an able and steady Vice President. He has the vision and ready to lead."

Hillary: Democrats must unite around Joe Biden.
"Do you really want Newt Gingrich in the White House? No way, no how!"

Joe Biden may be Barack Obama's Vice President, but he is also the Democratic nominee. He may be running as the unrealized second term of Barack Obama, but he is also running for his own term. "I'm running to finish the work Barack Obama has started, to build on the progress, but also in my I'm running in my own right. I'm running to lead and make this country thrive and prosper again."

Current polls show Biden holding onto his lead over Republican Newt Gingrich. After the GOP convention in Tampa, the Democratic candidate was favored 47% to 42%. The latest poll from PPP show Biden ahead, 49% to 43%.

Called it.

I'm fine either way, but I wish Biden would pledge to serve one term.

Biden: "Gingrich will unchain Wall Street"
Stepping up his attack against Newt Gingrich, Joe Biden lambasted Gingrich as being too cozy with Wall Street and would reverse the changes implemented by the Obama Administration. Biden's comments regarding Wall Street came under fired with Biden saying to the crowd of Gingrich, "he will put you all back in chains." Gingrich pounced on the statement, saying, "the Vice President is pandering and clearly is willing to say any ridiculous statement in order to become President."

Polls Show an Increasingly Tight Race
It is the nature of things, the polls are tightening between Vice President Biden and Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich. The two candidates have been crisscrossing the country targeting the battleground states, drumming up support and trying to make their arguments stick, as the campaign enters the final leg ahead of the first Presidential debate.

Analyst expected a close race from the start, giving the status of the economy and the fact it is an open race to replace the incumbent President. In recent weeks, the races has heated up as the candidates traded barbs over the positions on gay marriage and gaffes made by the Vice President on the stump.

Biden vs. Gingrich
Newt Gingrich came to the first Presidential debate ready for a fight against Vice President Biden, but Biden went toe-to-toe with Gingrich. Gingrich lambasted the Vice President for the President's weak economy and the Affordable Care Act. Biden was criticized for his odd comments, including Gingrich's tax proposal as "a bunch of stuff." An estimated 67 million people watched the debate with 37% thought Gingrich was the winner, with 35% thought Biden won. 25% thought the debate was a tie.

Locke vs. Pawlenty

The Vice Presidential Debate between Gary Locke and Tim Pawlenty was no game changer. Both candidates performed admirably, but no voters' minds were changed as a result of the only VP debate.

Gallup Tracking Poll: Oct. 2012
Joe Biden: 47%
Newt Gingrich: 45%

Gingrich vs. Biden
The final Presidential debate Newt Gingrich and Joe Biden tried to find or make a defining moment in the debates, but the debate much like the first was a draw. Gingrich failed to deliver the knock-out punch he longed to deliver against Biden, and for Biden, he fortunately made no serious mistakes or gaffes. The lack of a decisive moment by either candidate is further evidence that it will be a prolonged and close election. Polls show a narrowing contest.

Gingrich Keeps Making his Case: "Time to Turn the Page on Obama"
"A Joe Biden Presidency would be one of disastrous consequences."

Biden Fired up in the Closing Weeks
"God bless Newt, but he's out of touch and out of date!"

Super Storm Sandy Stalls Presidential Campaign
The devastating Hurricane Sandy, which plagued the east coast, specifically New Jersey stalled the Presidential campaign in the waning days before the votes are cast. Both Joe Biden and Newt Gingrich have ceased campaign efforts, though the Vice President has joined President Obama in touring the disaster area, which some have called, including Vice Presidential nominee Tim Pawlenty, "a political moment by the Vice President."

CNN/ORC POLL: Oct. 2012 (Pre-Sandy)
Joe Biden: 47%
Newt Gingrich: 46%

Gingrich Makes Closing Arguments
Newt Gingrich made closing arguments in a final campaign stop in Ohio, a state the GOP candidate will need to win if he has any hope of helping the party take back the White House. In a large rally in Columbus, Gingrich promised his presidency would be one of "American revival." He chastised the Vice President for being a steward of the status quo and how he, (Gingrich) would be the real agent of change.

Biden Campaign Rolls into Delaware
Joe Biden ended his presidential campaign with a final rally in his home state of Delaware. Biden did not mention Gingrich by name, but criticized the Republican-led House and the "whacky ideas" of the GOP. Biden choked up during his rally, when speaking of his first wife and his child. He was joined on stage by the entire Biden Family as the crowd cheered, "We Love Joe!" While working the rope lines when asked how he felt going into election day, Biden responded, "I'm ready for whatever comes my way."

RCP Average: Nov. 5, 2012

Newt Gingrich: 48.01%

I like how you always include Dixville Notch and Hart's Location in your results.

The percentages seem a bit off though. Should Gary Johnson be at 2-3% if he has 1/34 for Hart's Location?
