Will there be any women or black people on the cabinet?
Uh... Palin and Carson should be near the top of the list because of their qualifications, not because of their demographics.

Ironic Trump picked Betsy Voss to run the Education department considering she's for Common Core

On top of that, she runs charter schools that rely on vouchers, is heir to the Amway fortune, and her brother owns Blackwater

Jesus Christ

Forgot to mention she's a Creationist....think about it...a creationist is going to run the Education Department
It's about time.

Liberty University is an accredited college.

Trump University offered seminars on how to sell real estate.

They really aren't comparable. Besides having the word "University" in their names, they weren't even the same type of organization.
It shocks me how many people completely disregard this.

(Yes, "university" is a regulated word in NY and Trump should not have used it, and I am not defending the quality or recruiting tactics of Trump University, but that's something else altogether.)

We need to push Allen West as far from the mainstream as possible.

Trump has only appointed 2 women to actual cabinet positions, one of which has been in Washington forever. He needs to appoint women to both agriculture and sec. Vet Affairs if he wants to show the gender proper respect.
Yeah because nothing says respect like quotas.

Yeah because nothing says respect like quotas.

Well actually quotas is exactly what Trump is doing when he appoints one black person and one Asian to his cabinet just so that he can claim his cabinet is diverse.
The problem here is that Trump doesn't have a diverse social and business circle, he comes from a circle where it's ok to say things like "I like beautiful women eating burgers in bikinis.  I think it's very American"*
I'm sorry but that's not my America.

*This is an actual quote by the new secretary of Labor, Andrew Puzder.
He appointed Ben Carson because he's been a loyal supporter during the campaign and because he's very popular with Republicans. (and even some Democrats) He appointed Elaine Chao because she's also a well-known Republican and her husband is Mitch McConnell, someone he wants as an ally for the next 4 years. They were appointments that made sense for Trump and not tokens.

Are there women and minorities qualified to be Cabinet secretaries in this country? Yes, of course. But the reality is that the majority of people in significant leadership roles in this country in both the public and private sectors are white men. It is even more so among those who identify as conservative or Republican. (that is not a good thing, but that is the reality) Cabinet positions are also political appointments, so they require appointees to have some degree of ideological compatibility with the President. So while there are plenty of women and minorities in the pool of qualified candidates for Cabinet appointments, they are far outnumbered by men, and it's very hard to appoint many of them without willfully ignoring men who may be more qualified or ideologically compatible.

Yes, because saying that the Department of Education, by far the smallest and least significant Cabinet department, is not particularly important is the same thing as saying education is unimportant.

Katrina Pierson is an amazing woman who I admire a lot and I would love to see her play a role in the Trump Administration. Smiley

The waiver that Mattis needs to get in order to lead the DoD as a former general: Does that need to pass both houses of Congress, or just the Senate?

Both houses, since they would actually need to pass legislation allowing it.

Didn't they already pass it in the DoD reauthorization/funding bill?
No, Republicans simply threw in some language that would make it harder to block Mattis' confirmation.

Perry is doing better here than he ever did in either of his presidential campaigns.

For all the jokes about "oops" I actually don't think he's a terrible choice for Energy

Moniz is a nuclear physicist.  Perry barely graduated college.  The department of Energy is in charge of the nuclear energy.  Do you want the guy from Dancing with the stars in charge?

You ignore the fact he was a successful Governor for literally almost 15 years. Dancing with the Stars is meaningless, you act like that is his only accomplishment.

That's your opinion.  But even if what you say is true, that doesn't mean he's qualified to lead the Dept. of Energy.
That's not your decision to make.
