This deserves a really big asterisk that denotes that this is opinion. As I see it, this is a blatantly false statement.

Jesus Christ, this forum is full of elitists.

The social stratification that visits forums like this is beleaguered with wealthy dogooder liberals that desire fellation of their money, status and the confirmation of their lifestyle as 'correct' just as conservatives do, only they have the nerve to request more suction in return for declaring themselves benevolent masters to us idiotic savages. The Scott Walker thread on the 2016 board is rife with this sort of blindly marginalizing sentiment.. not that I'm interested in rushing to the doughy governor's defense, mind.

New Atheism is just Comtean Positivism on steroids. That's been obvious for some time.

people posting things that seem 'out of character' or surprise you that they approved of is a nice thing. people with predictable or 'correct' responses to everything are the worst kinds of bores and dullards. i rarely agree with waltermitty... but at least you can't say that of him. that automatically makes him a better poster than most of this board

So the BFF Squad now claims that we should go against Bushie's wishes because they know that he really wants to be made fun of on the internet? I'm more and more convinced someone should do a psych paper on you people. It's fascinating to follow the evolution of this groupthink.

Gustaf, Bushie's wishes are clearly to do the Update - he's done it for many years.  He stopped because something happened to him, and it is something he cannot tell us about.

Its rather like if a girl you know showed up shaking in fear with a black eye and a bruised lip, and told you 'there's nothing wrong, I just bumped into a door'.

Considering that Romneycare is not exactly the most liberal of policies, it would be a shame that if it's problems aren't resolved that it would be seen as an indictment of liberalism.  If anything, if it fails it will be an indictment of conservatism because Romneycare's failure nationally will be because conservatives abandoned their own proposal for nothing more than temporary political posturing.

I refuse to die a martyrs death here, because you know why?  Martyrs are still dead.  I still have a long forum life ahead sans the Update.  I'm not going away anytime soon.

Atlas privilege is being surprised that people don't recognise a group photo of middling 20th century Prime Ministers.

In fact I'm pretty sure I'd even be in the majority here when I say that I didn't recognise any of them at first glance.

Atlas privilege is choosing to spend a significant proportion of your life on a forum devoted to politics/elections and discussing the ins and outs of a (political) fart, and yet expect to be held to the same standard as the average, apolitical, joe.

It treats its workers badly, but so do basically all other companies in that line of work. Actually I know for a fact that certain other distribution companies are considerably worse. It's like the construction industry: the problem isn't the individual practices of individual companies, but the collective practices of basically the entire industry.

What you need to decrease the number of prostitutes is actual jobs that can actually pay you a decent living, and actual integration that can actually pay you serenity.

List of my top three favorite things the internet has invented:

1) gifs

3) high definition streaming pornographic videos

Snowy's short and sweet response is spot on.

That's right.. Scott lives in Newtown....

I do not favor the release of the tapes.
Why?  This wasn't a private affair.  Dozens were killed and it rocked the nation.  The least they can do is release the tapes.  Maybe we might learn something from them.

Reality is dirty, messy, and tragic.  There is no need for the government and/or media to protect us from our own filth.
