However I must applaud President Griffin for his decisive victory, and the fact that he clearly has a mandate and strength to go on and win the general election. As such, I'm announcing a 72-hour period in which people may declare their intention to seek the Chair and Vice-Chair positions. Just to make sure everyone is aware (since I did not specify prior), party by-laws stipulate that in order to seek office within the Politburo, an individual must declare his/her intention and receive a second from at least one other party member. Please be sure to declare if you are interested in running, as having others offering your name up without a declaration from yourself will not place you on the ballot.

The office of Chair is one that Griffin has brilliantly served as for many years now, often when no-one else wanted the title. I'd want to be an active chair, and not just one who you see during conference season. My 4 aims for my first term of office would be.

1.) Winning the February election; I'll work with President Griffin to turn out every single Labor voter, and ensure that labor voters use their influence to get as many independent voters to join our campaign.

2.) Building for the At-Large Elections: We currently only have 1/5 of the at-large senators, yet with 23% of the electorate being labor, and the ability to appeal to a wide cross section of voters I believe that we can get a second labor senator elected in the at-large elections in April; as far away as they are.

3.) I'd also want to launch a massive recruiting campaign, that would bring both old and new players back to labor. We've already had 2 ex-labor members join, and in the Northeast we've had 2 high profile figures in Clyde and Pikachu join us. I want to build on this strength.

4.) Finally, unite as a party. I understand that the Primary was seen as divisive but I feel that by having an open debate the party has came out much stronger. I feel that I'm the best candidate to bring the party together, and move us forward

Maybe a good idea could be using IRV and letting the first-place finisher be Chair and the second-place finisher be Vice Chair. Not sure if that's already how it works.

According to the by-laws, we hold separate votes for each position. There used to be 3 positions but we consolidated that down to 2. We had a 72-hour declaration period that started on 1/27 @ 5:52 PM, so I'll open the vote this evening at some point after that.

With regards to write-in votes: such votes will be counted only if the person being written in casts a ballot for his/herself and receives an additional vote from another party member (the same process essentially as the nomination/endorsement for Politburo candidates).
