‘SJW’s are often accused of being offended on behalf of others (which can be misguided altruism), but those on the right are offended on behalf of themselves. They don’t like doing anything that requires a minimum of effort, change or introspection. Everything that’s done on behalf of someone else, becomes all about them.
So LGBT rights isn’t about anything else but ‘why should I have to bake a cake’? Trans rights are about ‘what about when I go to the toilet’? Big issues on discrimination are distilled into small little personal inconveniences that they think are bigger than the issues that affect the other side. Everything that isn’t them or like them is an inconvenience. The entire 2016 campaign was about creating a big national ‘safe space’ from economic realities, environmental realities and demographic change. For those who are religious, the USA is the number one country in the world where you can pick a church to suit you and cocoon yourself there every Sunday, surrounded by the same people, who think the same things who reinforce it. And in close knit areas that can spill into the local communities too. They are ‘safe spaces’ (which you will hopefully have gathered I’m not against in principle, but demonstrably exist as much on the right as they do on the left). Your Facebook feed where you share the same dross with your equally reactionary friends is a safe space. Your news outlets that filter it for you are safe spaces.
Reality is 'fake news' because it's little chinks of light that confirm that they are living inside their own heads. That what they have built up to be 'a truth' because it feels true (and demand to be treated as a 'protected class' of truth if you will) isn't, yet, superseding reality for everyone else.
They are vulnerable, scared and thin skinned.
