First Quebec results in Gaspesie - Les Iles-de-la-Madeleine, Liberals ahead.

40 out of 214 in.  LPC ahead with 40% of the vote vs 28.4% for NDP.  Very bad sign for NDP.

It seems that CPC would actually match their pre-election polling.  In fact given how badly they did in the Atlantic region they might have actually over-performed polls in the rest of Canada.  What beat them was the large shift of the NDP and GRN vote bloc over to LPC.

It terms of seat share and vote share CPC would be roughly be at around their 2004 performance.  In terms of vote share they will do a couple of percentage point better than 2004.

It's amazing to me how fast the Canadian's count their votes.  With a population pretty close to the state of California, the vote is pretty much counted in less than 12 hours.  California seems to take three weeks or longer to get all the votes tallied.

Well, better stated, I guess what is amazing is how slow the vote counting process is in California (and Washington and Oregon).

Do not forget Westchester County NY where sometimes final results will not be out until 2 weeks later.
