The police department should be passing out shotties to storekeepers, IMO.

It takes a special sort of human garbage to engage in this kind of mindless destruction.

Yes because having a gun war now would really calm things down.

It does in the US.  "An armed society is a polite society."

Could the Americans posting on this thread please kindly refrain from providing evidence to bolster unfortunate and deeply regrettable national stereotypes.

We like our stereotypes.

It's okay Al, all you Brits need to do is arm yourselves to the teeth with guns!  That'll solve all your problems, just like it did over here.

Well, we did drive them out.

I saw an interview with some neighborhood people on NBC, late teens, early 20's, women, some wearing hijabs.  They basically said that the rioters bums and said there was no reason to riot.  It also showed mixed race crowds cheering the police.

Uh, American gun laws made a difference in the Rodney King riots how exactly?

Actually, you did have owners with guns driving off rioters.

I was actually thinking about sending in the army in London (with live ammunition), or just a couple of Gurkhas.

McDonald's and the Town Centre about a 5 minute drive away from me got smashed up about an hour ago. In the next road to one of my friends.

London or one of the outlying areas.

Neither, he lives on the Wirral.

Now that is an outlying area.

Those passing through London's courtrooms... have included a teaching assistant, a lifeguard, a postman, a chef, a charity worker, a millionaire's daughter and an 11-year-old boy, newspapers reported."

....yeah?

The ages of some of them are amazing.  All these particular defendants weren't kids, but adults.
