In my experience most women ask about these things eventually. I try to be open without making them feel bad.

I do sometimes obscure it a bit if it seems unnecessary and could be upsetting. I've realized that people often get the idea that you're obsessed with an ex or hasn't moved on if you mention them too often so I try avoiding that.
