Yes, but don't you know that NH is so Democrat that it would take a GOP landslide for those other states/districts to outweigh the overwhelming Democrat advantage in NH.

It would be a bit too Republican to be a true swing state if Iowa keeps its current trend.

A combination of Virginia and North Carolina, however, would be much more competitive. The combined vote of the two states total this time around was only Clinton +36291.

As an Illinoisan, the talk of any states - anywhere - merging or breaking a part in the 21st Century infuriates me.  The states are great the way they are.

Such a state, shown here as simply Iowa, would vote for Trump and Obama twice. In 2000 Bush would win the state by 39,917, but in 2004 Kerry wins by 35,206 votes. So NH does outvote IA except this year. 

New England is a safe Dem state with a population of VT + ME-01.
