We're already at 1500 posts today, and it's only about 6pm on the East Coast.

I'm sticking with max of 2400 now, but I think we'd be even higher now if the site wasn't lagging so bad. It takes me like 40 seconds to refresh the page.

Eharding could post half that in a day himself.

You know, aside from Grumps, there's another long time poster who I just realized suddenly left the forum earlier this year, and that's angus.  He hasn't posted since June.

TexArkana has made ~1500 posts in the last month, as compared to ~200 for BRTD.  If both of those posting rates held up indefinitely, I think that gets TexArkana to 100,000 posts in about 5.5 years, before BRTD makes it there.  Tongue

December was on track to best November's post count, but it seems that with the holiday slump factored in, December will probably be 44,600-46,300. Still higher than October though!

Let's hope I don't get a job, or a life in general, so I can continue posting until I reach that massive goal Tongue

^ I'm changing my estimate. I think there is a 95% of hitting 4,700+ posts.

This was apparently the first December where the days surrounding and including Christmas had over 1,000 posts. Usually activity plunges around this time, but it stayed above water.

The Trump Bump continues!

Looks like December 2017 set a record for the number of posts in a month in a non-presidential election year.

Btw, another thing I just noticed: Last month also had the highest number of new account registrations in a non-presidential election year since February 2011.  Somehow or other we keep attracting new people.

We have to get tougher on the border folks. This new wave of trolls (King Lear, Greedo) is only slightly less worse than the post-2016 wave (Eharding, klartext, bagel).

They're bringing sh*tposts, they're bringing hot takes, they're trolls - and some of them, I assume, are good people.

January is headed for >= 50,000 posts if the insane activity levels keep up. Aside from select months in 2016 (which itself set a record for activity), more than 50,000 posts would be more than any other month except for October of 2008 and 2012, which saw lots of posts for obvious reasons.

It looks like there's a good chance that Dec. 2017 / Jan. 2018 will also be just the 2nd time in forum history that we have back to back months with more than 200 new registrations (the 1st time being Sept. / Oct. 2010).  The # of new posters we're getting is as high as ever.

Exactly, he made at least 6 socks, and he's probably going to make a couple more.

Aside from Greedo, is this massive burst of activity mostly due to the Alabama race? I guess the Oprah thing also popped activity for awhile.

ALL. THE. REGISTRATIONS.

We are all Greedo.

It doesn't seem related. Alabama just contributed to it. I don't think any one issue is responsible. Not sure if there is anything of note to draw from this, but the end of 2009 also saw a similar rise in activity that lasted for like half a year.

Antonio takes over 6th place from opebo:

1) BRTD 81,610
2) Al 61,591
3) Lewis 58,547
4) Phil 52,836

Jfern will probably bump Eraserhead out of 9th place in about two weeks or so.

This past month was the first time in forum history that we had a month with more than 50,000 posts when it wasn't a presidential election year.

It's also the first time since 2010 that we've had two months in a row with more than 200 new registrations.

Another stellar month, activity-wise. 46,664 posts for the month is actually a lot better than it sounds. That's around 1,666 posts a day, which if Feb had the same 31 days January had, we'd have had another 50k+ month (51,663 to be exact). It's also the first time post-2016 that we've had more than 4 months in a row with >40,000 posts. The closest comparison in Atlas history is probably the late 2009-early 2010 period, but that only lasted like half a year. This level of activity has lasted since the minute 2017 began, and shows no signs of letting up.

I know this is just an internet message board, but you can tell just by looking at these stats that Trump's ...erhm, unique *cough* presidency is really injecting a huge amount of energy into the political side of America. Part/most of this is probably his non-stop drama and scandal, even if it is a bitter pill to swallow. I don't ever remember a presidency being remotely close to this exciting. I suppose that is a bad and good thing, depending on how you want to look at it.

Apparently a bunch of Antonio posts got deleted, as Antonio slipped back into 7th place, behind opebo.  Shouldn’t take him that long to catch back up though….
