Nailed it. McConnell is the slimiest, least trustworthy individual in Washington

are you sure? there's a lot of competition

I am positive. There are a lot of other slimy, untrustworthy figures, but McConnell is easily the worst. He is willing to break institutions just to suit his political agenda, and then claims the moral high ground when the institutions he broke aren't immediately fixed in time for him to benefit from them not being broken. He is pure evil.

How is he the worse when you have Lyin' Ted who shuts down the government & filibusters all the time & was reading Green Eggs & a ham to his daughter during the filibuster but now wants to manipulate obscure old rules to eliminate the filibuster by letting the VP rule everything is budget reconciliation.

This guy has like no morals & can do anything & everything. The same guy who lied to Carson voters in Iowa that he dropped out to get their votes & made phony robo calls to Trump supporters. Remember when he announced Fiorina as his VP? He practises hugs & kisses for his Presidential video. He lies about everything. He is Lyinnnnn' Ted !

You can't do worse than that ! I shudder to think what will happen to the GOP if Lyinn' Ted is the POTUS or even the Senate Majority leader !

Cruz didnt normalise the near-constant use of the filibuster on all legislation. Cruz is a symptom of the problem that McConnell created

I was very amused by these liberal witnesses rooting for "impartiality, independence and precedence" but wanting to have the opposite of it.

Also it is quite funny (if you stop treating Leftists seriously and only laugh about their
contradiction of their opinion in the next sentence to come) that Roe vs Wade is the "super precedence" every Justice has to follow but of course he has to overrule Heller and Citizens United cause they are "wrong". That how jurisdiction and law works.

Great kino! Thank you, Democratic witnesses!

About what? It is totally irrelevant whether zero or 7 Dem Senators support him. Either there will be a Deal (keep the Filibuster for the next vacancies to come) or the nuclear option.

OMG, this level of self-betraying is astonishing...

about the fact that even a totally useless filibuster wouldn't lose manchin even one vote.

Yeah, he would only lose by 10 points, not like Hilly with 40. Congrats!

PLZ abolish the filibuster, it's the only thing which secures republican all-time victories.

when this anachronism is finally gone, elections are finally going to have consequences.

If there's no filibuster, it will be infinitely easier for the next Dem trifecta to just add 2 judges to every federal court for each Trump appointee.  Be careful what you wish for.

The Dems abolished the filibuster on all appointees except SCOTUS justices.

This would be the GOP abolishing the filibuster on SCOTUS justices.

Somebody would still need to take the step of abolishing the filibuster on legislation.

filibustering should be - at most - the physical presence of yourself, talking non-stop and when you are finally falling asleep, it ends.

that would at least need some kind of effort.

That would be far less of a hurdle if the SCOTUS filibuster goes first.  In fact, it would basically be a given.  Also, given the Dem base's view of Trump, I fully expect the next Dem trifecta to be every bit as aggressive as the 1866-70 Republican 2/3rds majority was in terms of overturning prior norms/precedents.

i can live with that, the democrats are the party who got obstructed out of their shot the last 8 years....meaning, we got 2 republican administrations with power and no meaningful counterbalance in between.

never going to happen again.

This is an interesting theory. Quite illogical of course. I have no idea what obstructed means, other than that your political party was routed in the 2010 elections and the power of the House of Representatives was given to the Republican Party.

Not sure who the 2nd Republican administration is either?

the democrats could have obstructed the shoot out of the GWB administration - and they ofc did not and it was the right call.

the republicans made it necessary to pulverize the old rules.... i like politeness but if it doesn't work, it must go. better 8 years of hardcore republicanism than 16 years without even being able to do anything, cause we are meant to be the "mature" party...most overrated political category ever.
