As I've said before, a part of me wants McCain to win and appoint Lieberman to the cabinet, handing over the CT senate seat to the GOP and giving a big "fcuk you" to the Democrats.
I seriously believe he'll be Homeland Security Secretary but it won't matter. The GOP would get the Senate seat but that would give us maybe 46 seats.

And that seat would promptly go back to the Democrats in 2010.

That depends on who is appointed (maybe Jodi Rell?) and how things are going nationally.

Rell couldn't appoint herself; and besides, since Dodd will also be up for reelection, he's likely to bring more voters to the polls.

On second thought, I think I'm wrong.  Never mind that part.

Joseph Lieberman is a good Senator, and to kick him out of the Caucus simply because of this is childish.  Democrats need to remember that, without him, they wouldn't have their Chairmanships; Harry Reid is the one who needs to get kicked out of the Caucus.

Childish? He ditched his party.

His Party kicked him out in favor of a famous name.

The Lamont family had been involved in Connecticut for years.

I'll concede that to you; I haven't seen it confirmed, though.

Well, this whole thread is hypothetical. If it happened, would you support booting out Lieberman?

No.

Explain? You just agreed that that would be ditching his party.

I can't bring myself to kick him out.  Besides, I agree with him on more issues than not.

That makes absolutely no sense. Lieberman was a former Vice Presidential nominee who had been a Senator from the state for 17 years. In order to be "kicked out in favor of a famous name" you need to be obscure.

Joe Lieberman also needs to keep in mind that without the Democrats he wouldn't have his Chairmanship.

He could have joined the GOP, and he'd still be Chairman.

That was another one of my problems with Lamont: he only cared about 1 issue; Lamont had not run on Iraq as his only issue, Lieberman would have crushed him.
