Of course not.  I've always observed that it's the blue avatars who more Southern-bashing on this forum.  In fairness, there have been some red ones too, but most of those (like jerusalemcar5 or whatever his name was) are long gone.

Yeah I was born in Stamford and spent over two decades of my life in the great state of Connecticut, in fact rural, suburban and urban CT- long enough to have a thorough understanding of the three truths. 1. The white people don't like poor minorities 2. Using Latin slang around the puertorriquenos will not make you cool 3. Westport bitches are Crazy. I believe CT still has the greatest income inequality between whites and minorities of any state. One of the big issues has been school diversity, but hey, I forced my way into public school (admittedly a very white and respected public school).

I can agree with a lot of that, but I think you can find significant racial/class divides in just about any state with more than a million people living in it.

I don't know of any liberal who hates the south. The fact is that the north is both wealthier and smarter so it makes sense that liberals who like the smart and enlightened middle class will prefer the region that exemplifies that over the generally poor and ignorant south.

The idea that you can claim the "Northern 'liberal' class" to be some monolithic thing, with uniformly those sorts of qualities, is itself a piece of hideous bigotry. 

(Obviously there are plenty of bigots in the North.  And some of them are liberals.  I've always openly admitted as such, and am embarrassed about it whenever it crops up.  But the rather stronger claims being made here are utterly insane and unsupportable and, I would argue, speak to, well, what strikes me as nothing less than anti-Northern bias.)

There is a disdain of more fundamentalist religious types, particularly those whose theological views leach into their politics, and who like guns and so forth, and those types tend to be more common in the South. That is about it imo. The South is a BIG place as well. The ambiance in Waco, TX is a lot different than the ambiance in Ashland, NC, not to mention places like Alexandria, VA. And this disdain, while perhaps more common with red avatars, certainly is also rather common among the blue ones (e.g., how many gay blue avatars are running around in this hood now?). This forum is not representative of America - at all. Who knew? Silly thread really. Very silly.
