I am running on empty here, in fact you might say I am knocking on heaven's door I am so tired right now. I am sure whoever introduced tihs remembers who they are and will thus advocate within the 24 hour period. It was either Ben or Nix, most likely.

I would like to echo the sentiments of the Secretary regarding this.

As for the differential in healthcare, my first desire after rereading both Fritzcare and the subsquent alteratiosn, would be to get Senator Napoleon's feedback since it was his and MoPolitico's alterations to Fritzcare that left us with the current system we have in place today. If the NSC or IA (especially IA, since Franzl was kind of sorta of there if you know what I mean. And unlike myself, he actually voted for the original Fritzcare. Tongue) had taken this up, we could have gotten as many of the responsible people to testify beforehand nad thus have that feedback already. Obviously, the committees most certainly have a purpose, the problem is purpose recognition and then initiative.

If it had been thought about at the time, it probably would have been abolished and merged into the Fritzcare program, just like Medicare and Medicaid were.

I wasn't necessarily passing judgement on the merits of doing so, I was just saying that is what would have likely been done at the time, had it been given the attention that medicare and medicaid are.

Plus there might need to be organization details to be worked out. There was a phase in period of sorts when the healthcare bill was passed that has lapsed and as such just inserting it into the previously passed bill seems functionally impractical.

Yes, Mr. President, that was my point. Tongue

People don't think of Tricare when discussing Medicare and Medicaid, hence why it wasn't also done likewise.

I am sorry, maybe I am just overly paranoid here. But we are eliminating the military's healthcare plan, rolling it into the Fritzcare scheme, and I am to believe that by inserting a single word into a bill that was passed four years ago, is going to not only get the job done, but also ensure that the least impact possible resulting from the transition is felt by our men and women in uniform?

Not entirely because there was an implementation period in the original bill that delay the taking of effect by a few weeks or so if memory serves me. That would allow for atleast some transition. THat lapsed years ago and thus can't be utilized for this purpose here. So just inserted a single word into a four year old bill doesn' seem practical or functional in my opinion.

Stil I am so glad Jedi and I were the only sane people in the room back on that vote (if you are laughing, it is because this is suppose to be ironic in at least three ways Tongue)

This reminds me of when I was first elected to the Senate and we were working on welfare reform, and they tried to pass a bill that would eliminate Social Security and Medicare, leaving millions of seniors with no healthcare and no income.

What CSS? I don't beleive that was the intent, but funtionally at a certain point that probably would have been the result at that point in time.

Just pass the simple amendment and we can pretend we never made this mistake in the first place.

I hate to say it, but I'm inclined to take this view as well.

I don't like it though and I don't think I can vote for that.

I am reminded of something that Al said (yes I do listen to what he says from time to time) when he was being confirmed for I think SoIA way back in 2010. He said that everything in Atlasia would be far more hideous in terms of the economy and such forth because of the unorganized and inconsistend nature of its govertment as a result of inactive and/or incompetent officials. I am reluctant to perpetuate that, especially considering the item in question is healthcare, FOR OUR MILITARY!!!
