Thankfully the electoral vote counting process was done peacefully compared to 2021. America is starting to heal and DeSantis and Rubio unlike Trump actually care about helping our country heal .

Today the White House and Democratic & Republican Congressional Leaders reached a new Depth Ceiling Compromise as the old Deal struck by then Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) ran out on the 1st of January 2025. It is noticeable that Senator MARCO RUBIO (R-FLORIDA), now the Senate Majority Leader, did not vote for the "McCarthy Deal" struck in May 2023.
Under the new compromise fiscal spending will be reduced by 15 % over the next four years except for Agencies related to National Security Matters and the Millitary while the Depth Limit will be paused until February 5th 2029.
As expected Progressive Members in the House & Senate did not like the Deal. However Nevada Senator CATHERINE CORTEZ-MASTO (D-NEVADA) said Democrats are in no Position to make demands as Congress is controlled by the opposing Party and she urged Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-New York) to rein in the Progressives. Cortez-Masto along with Senators Shaheen & Hassan (both New Hampshire), Tester (Montana), Peters & Slotkin (both Michigan), King (Maine) and Ossoff (Georgia) are expected to join the 52-Republican Senate Majority along with the Democratic Senate Leadership giving the Upper Chamber enough Votes to beat back a Filibuster.

The Republican Governors Association this weekend during their Annual Winter Meeting in Phoenix, Arizona hosted by Arizona Republican Party State Chair Karin Taylor-Robson selected Florida Governor RONALD D. DESANTIS (R-FLORIDA) and Chair and South Dakota Governor KRISTI L. NOEM (R-SOUTH DAKOTA) as Vice Chair.

Speaking to current & newly elected Republican Governors the Florida Governor vowed to nominate the

„Most electable Candidates in 2025 and 2026. We can't go down this Road nominating inflammatory Candidates like we did in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan among other States like we did 2022. We were supposed to win those Races but we didn't. Make no mistake Governors like Gretchen Whitmer and Josh Shapiro have National Ambitions and we have given them a leg up.“

DeSantis pointed out to Virginia Lt. Governor Winsome Sears (R-Virginia) who is running to succeed term-limited Governor Glenn Youngkin (R-Virginia).

The South Dakota Governor for her part declared during her speech

„I will help Governor DeSantis to find the most suitable & electable Candidates. You are all the backbone of the Republican Party. As we have seen during a National Crisis like COVID having a Republican Governor versus having a Democrat can make a huge difference in peoples lives.“

Both Governors also delivered skating attacks on the current Arizona Governor, Democrat KATIE HOBBS (D-ARIZONA). Noem declared confidently that Hobbs would be fired next year while DeSantis accused Hobbs of turning Arizona into California.

While AZ State Party Chair Taylor-Robson already taken herself out of the running for Arizona Governor next year two potential Candidates, State Treasurer Kimberly Yee & Meghan McCain, Daughter of the late Senator John McCain attended the RGA Winter Meeting.

Following their Elections both Governors sat down with NBC NEWS MEET THE PRESS Anchor Kristen Welker.

Author: NBC Universial

Welker pressed DeSantis on recent Republican Setbacks in which he responded saying that there is now a willingness to bring all fractions of the Republican Party together. DeSantis pointed out that since Bidens Inauguration he has at least made 5 Trips to Washington talking to Congressional Leaders saying the Party has now

„Good Leadership in Washington and House Speaker Scalise & Senate Leader Rubio and not the kind of people you mess around with and as we have seen that they are not selling out hard-working Americans.“ pointing out to the recent Depth Ceiling Compromise.

„I also think if we can all guile together as a Party it will be a huge gain for everyone“.

Welker also pressed Noem asking her why she now supports DeSantis after having supported Trump in the 2024 Primaries. Noem responded that the Republican Party is now in a very different state and the attacks by the former President on the people of Florida & the Florida Govtm itself were a bridge too far for her to fathom & accept. She also called it totally out of line.

Seizure of property, for some cause or another, has always been part of the American landscape and I don't see anything to fault in that part of the ruling.

But how is the order for Donald Trump to leave Florida not appealed to SCOTUS? The consequences of a state - any state - being allowed to just ban American citizens (with no dual citizenship) from their territory are extraordinary.

  • It's an accepted legal principle in the United States that any American citizen can move to any location in the United States, so long as the location is available for their use (no trespassing) and they are not currently incarcerated. Bans from geographies are usually on the local level: if you are banned from living in a certain area of Miami, there is nothing stopping you from living elsewhere in Miami-Dade County or the state of Florida. The January 6th protestors IRL weren't banned from Washington DC; they were jailed instead.
  • Members of the US Armed Forces can be called on to move to a military base anywhere in the country, including Florida. Suppose that an eight-year-old boy is banned from Florida and moves with his family to Ohio. Aged eighteen, he joins the Air Force and is assigned to Eglin AFB on the panhandle. Which takes priority: the USAF's order that he must move to Florida, or Florida's order that he must not move to Florida?
  • Native American tribes with reservations, such as the Seminoles, can decide who they want to enter. They would be immensely upset if Florida were to use this case as precedent five or ten years down the line to tell them "no, Michael Smith is banned from living in Florida, therefore he cannot live on your reservation irregardless of the fact that his family has been living on the local Seminole reservation for five generations."

Note that even if the order were sustained, Trump could just live at Bedminster resort in New Jersey - unless NJ's taken action against him that hasn't been documented in this timeline thusfar. In which case, why hasn't it?

Florida Republicans defend Decision by the Florida State State Supreme Court to remove former President Trumps Florida Residence
Washington D.C. & Tallahassee/Florida
Florida Lawmakers in Washington as well as former State Legislature Leaders in the Sunshine State defended the Decision by the Florida State Supreme Court to revoke former President Trumps Residence in the State and ordering him to leave.
Rep. Michael Waltz, who directly succeeded Governor Ron DeSantis in Congress said "The Rule of Law still exists in Florida and that applies to everyone. I supported former President Trump in 2024 but what he did following the 2024 Election was unneccessary and completely over the line. It was an attack on the brave Citizens of Florida and our State Government. These things cannot go unchecked. He went too far and he knows it."
Similar Comments were heard by other Members of the Florida Republican Congressional Delegations such as Rep. Anna-Paulina Luna and Rep. Laurel Lee.

Conversations with Governor DeSantis Press & Communications Team following the Ruling by the Florida State Supreme Court on former President Trumps Residence
Tallahassee/Florida
Following the Ruling by the Florida State Supreme Court to revoke former President Trumps Residence in the State of Florida the Governors Press & Communications Team consisting of Press Secretary JEREMY REDFERN, Communications Director BRYAN GRIFFIN and CHRISTINA PUSHAW, Communications & Digital Projects sat down with Florida Voice News Founder Brendon Leslie to discuss the matter.

Brendon Leslie: Thanks Jeremy, Bryan & Christina for being with us today. So the Florida Supreme Court revoked former President Trumps Residence. What's your take on the Ruling?
PUSHAW I think they made the right call. The former President proved to be even more dangerous following the 2024 Presidential Election compared to 2020. When I heard that there was an allerged plot to overthrow our Government I was disgusted and shocked asking myself how can this be?
REDFERN: The weeks after the 2024 Presidential Election were very dangerous for our Government. When you hear that evacuation orders were given you don't take this lightly so I agree with Christina that the Court made the right call.
GRIFFIN: Governor DeSantis and his Executive Office Staff had to work from a Secret Location following the allerged plot so I also agree with Christina & Bryan. The State of Florida had to make sure this never happens again and while I don't agree on the Policies President Biden did over the last for years he was there when our State faced a crisis yet again similar when we were confronted with Hurricanes IAN & IDALIA.

Meanwhile Christina Bobb was hired by the Republican National Committee following the overhaul of the National Republican Party after Mr Trump swept the Super Tuesday Contests in 2024.

Senator Thom Tillis (R-North Carolina) won't seek Re-Election in 2026
Raleigh/North Carolina
Senator THOM TILLIS (R-NORTH CAROLINA) announced today that he would not seek another Term in the Senate citing wanting to spent more time with his Family. Tillis won two close Elections in the Tar Heel State in 2014 and 2020 defeating then Senator Kay Hagen and former State Senator Cal Cunningham will less than 50 % of the Vote. Despite Democrats likely facing considerable headwinds heading into the 2026 Midterms North Carolina presents them with one of their best Pick Up Opportunities. Former Congressman WILEY NICKEL (D-NORTH CAROLINA) has expressed interest. The Democrats Top Recruit would obviously be 2-Term former Governor ROY COOPER (D-NORTH CAROLINA) who has been heavily recruited by the DSCC and its Chairwoman Amy Klobuchar.
Tillis is the 2nd Republican who declined to seek another Term after former Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), who announced his Retirement earlier this year.

"Thom Tillis will not seek re-election!" - some newspaper, while failing to discuss in any depth what Republicans could take up his mantle

Also, why is there a special election in Iowa? Is Chuck Grassley going to die in a few months and we don't know it yet?

More Senate Retirements?
At least five more Senators are subject to Retirement Rumors heading into the 2026 Midterm Elections. Neither Senators Bill Cassidy (R-Louisiana), John Cornyn (R-Texas) and Susan Collins (R-Maine) as well as Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-New Hampshire) and Mark Warner (D-Virginia) have made their intentions known.
