So many of you laughed at me and called me a hack for insisting Hillary was inevitable for the last 2 years. So many bought into the Warren hype, then the Sanders hype, then the Biden hype, then the Sanders hype again. And don't even get me started on the people who were so desperate they pretended O'Malley, Webb, and Chafee were viable contenders. But I stood firm. Queen Inevitable Hillary has now been crowned. Chafee would have gotten if the media hadn't suppressed him at every opportunity and gave him unfair gotcha questions.

I knew you were right all along (although I did have a bit of doubt from roughly late January until March) but congrats anyway.

I still don't think she was actually "inevitable." I think she was heavily favored, and was better prepared for a fight this time.

No, but if you can post a 100% accurate map for the general 60 days before the election, then we'll talk.

Yeah, in retrospect I agree. Seeing how well Sanders did, I think a better candidate would have had a real chance.

In reality though, my thoughts went from "Sanders can't win, and nobody can beat Hillary" to a brief period of "Maybe he can win" to "Sanders (or a better candidate) could have maybe won, but it's too late now."

If Sanders could(did) do so well against Hillary, then I do believe that Biden would have ended-up with more pledged delegates compared to all other candidates (if Biden would have organized and entered early).

You were right about the ultimate outcome, though some of your predictions that it's going to be as easy for her as it was for Schumer or Lankford in their Senate races, were a bit too overboard. It wasn't a cakewalk and several of Hillary weaknesses as a candidate were shown, even though her only opponent was Bernie Sanders of all people.

That being said, contrags Smiley Now onto to general election.

To be fair, I never said she would win all 50 states, or even win without breaking a sweat. The only thing I guaranteed was that she would eventually be the victor, partially because she had so much padding that she could afford to lose tons of support and still come out ahead.

That said, you are correct I definitely did underestimate Sanders. For most of 2015 I figured he'd win a few caucuses and maybe NH then drop out.

Oh how quickly we forget the hype...

WARREN IS GONNA JUMP IN AND CRUSH HILLARY! #2008REDUX!
SANDERS IS NIPPING AT HER HEELS JUST LIKE OBAMA DID! #2008REDUX
BIDEN IS GONNA JUMP IN!!!!!! SHE'S FINISHED!!!11!!!!

And of course:

"Is Hillary finished after NH?"
"Is Hillary finished after MI?"
"Is Hillary finished after <March caucuses>?"

And of course the timeless classic: "Hillary won't even run" and its twin brother "Hillary will be indicted"

Why you not give accolades to how well Martin O'Malley performed? Just look at all the [protest] votes he received even AFTER he dropped out! That counts too, right?!

I congratulated you in March and you still deserve that. But don't forget you posted this at one point:

I will admit Sanders' strength in NH is impressive and far exceeded my expections. Hillary might only win 48 states instead of 49. Wink

48 states presumably meaning everything but NH/VT.

^That actually was my initial prediction, + CO/MN. I guess I forgot about them in that post. I figured he'd drop out after Super Tuesday. In retrospect that was pretty silly considering he was clearly running as a "movement candidate."
