Immigrants to Canada who have spent a greater proportion of their lives in Canada have a greater risk of developing multiple sclerosis (MS) than people who have spent a smaller proportion of their lives there, according to a new study. The study does not prove that an increased proportion of life in Canada causes MS; it only shows an association.
likely due to the fact that the higher the latitude you live in, the higher rates of MS.  cite

Then presumably the increased chance of multiple sclerosis would apply only to immigrants from countries of a lower latitude than Canada? Granted, this describes most recent immigrants to Canada, but there are still plenty of European immigrants from similar or higher latitude than Canada.

might depend on the diet of the people in question due to the correlation with Vitamin D deficiency

Starting off in a nice hot climate with humidity (moist hot air).

Moving to a cold climate with low humidity (dry cold air).

Body has difficulties with the long term effects of the cold.

There is a massive difference between people (independent of culture) when you work on the equator vs those when you work in cold climates.

Physiological, mental, work productivity, invention.

All these factors are driven by your biology, so it makes sense that some diseases may take hold better if you move from hot to cold (and visa versa) climates.

Seattle and Vancouver have mild winters and are wet, so if people are really getting MS there, the latitude seems like the bigger factor.

So, what are you trying to get at it here? Do you think we should we be telling immigrants to go home because they're going to get MS?

It seems to be associated with vitamin D. A really sad disease.
