Depends on the kind of dictatorship I lived in, and on who the invader/liberator is, of course.

But in most cases, no.

Sorry, not enough information is given. It's not a simple yes or no.

1. How bad is the dictatorship? Not all dictatorships are created equally - some are easily worse than others.
2. What level of destruction could I expect in the invasion? Some dictatorships would topple in a matter of days if invaded, others could involve a longer struggle.
3. Are my people educated enough for a democracy? Some democracies are terrible, possibly even worse than the dictatorships that preceded them. If the people in my country are the type that can be easily made to elect a democratic tyrant, I might not be inclined to want them to be able to.
4. Is the new democracy going to be a secular one, or will there be an official state religion?
5. Is there going to be some minority ethnic group that will likely become oppressed under democratic rule?

There would be other factors of course, but those are the main ones I can think of.

No, but if I lived in a democracy, I would want a coup d'etat to install a dictatorship.

Not necessarily. I'd probably rather live under a corrupt junta where I can drink and quietly enjoy certain proclivities than an islamic "republic," for example.

If it's just a dictatorship, no.

If it's a humanitarian war, then yes as long as it's done efficiently (see Libya as opposed to Iraq, and even then we shouldn't supply weapons to warzones)

No.

I'd want a foreign power aiding a rebel group here, and then f-cking off to let us build our own state, a la Libya.

But if it's a non-genocidal, not-too-oppressive dictatorship, I really wouldn't care.  Democracy isn't as great as those who fetishize it so much make it out to be.

The only reason people want democracy anyway is as a counterbalance to the absolute nutter that 99% of dictators become. If you lived in a near-perfect country that was a dictatorship, you wouldnt neccesarily want democracy.

My priorities would be:

1.  Hoping for a home grown revolution to install democracy which is then followed up with support by other democratic nations to help in the transition.

2.  Leaving the country for a democratic nation.

3.  Hoping for an invasion by a democratic nation.

Depends, if I were in North Korea, I'd be hoping for any improvement, if they were trying to impose "democracy" on me in Liechtenstein I'd be reaching for my shotgun.

I'd prefer to do the revolution myself.

That's right, I'll take one remote, disinterested potentate over a million little Hitlers right next door any day.

No, seeing how foreign intervention usually turns i'll take a dictator from my own country over a foreign one any day of the week.

It depends on quite a bit.  Is this a Libya situation where a broad-based opposition movement is in open civil war against the dictatorship and only needs some foreign air support to win (in which case the foreign presence is minimal and ends at the end of the war...there are no NATO troops on the ground in Libya today)?  Or is this a full-fledged invasion?  I'd appreciate it if people didn't conflate the two, because there's a pretty huge difference.
