The latter, because the GOP wouldn't die, but it might end true conservatism.

The establishment, since they believe that Trump will end any hope of defeating Clinton.

ExtremeRepublican still thinks his neoconservatism is real conservatism

I do believe in a strong foreign and domestic policy to prevent terrorism, but a more accurate criticism would be that I focus too much on values issues.

The establishment can make peace with it. Purists are never satisfied.

Not really. The "establishment" is the donor class, with priorities like cheap labor and less regulation, and tend to harbor some crony capitalist tendencies. The establishment is also usually more focused on foreign policy than are movement conservatives. They believe in winning elections by expanding the current Republican coalition to appeal to Hispanics through immigration reform which includes a path to citizenship.

The movement conservatives care more about shrinking the size and scope of government but also have a stronger social conservative/traditionalist element that isn't shared as strongly by the establishment. Movement conservatives tend to believe in winning elections by expanding turnout within the existing Republican coalition, though some believe in trying to court black voters.

The big similarity between the two groups is that they both hate Trump, but they're not the same, and they have feuded in primaries in every election since 2010.

I think the establishment will be more depressed that they have lost control than actually angry.

The movement conservatives, on the other hand, will probably be angry. A Trump nomination is a massive setback for them that they did not see coming. They thought they were going to be the ones to take over the Republican party, not a populist/nationalist like Trump. They thought all of the people voting for Tea Party candidates in 2010 had actually bought into their ideology and now they are realizing that many of them never did. They are feeling betrayed by the party base that they (wrongly) thought they understood.

Purists are always angry, so they're used to it. The establishment meltdown what's amusing (and even better where the two groups synthesise - the professional conservative class of certain lobbyists, academics, pundits and journalists are melting down en masse.

This. Which other candidate could simultaneously cause both establishment and far right tears? Only Trump!

I saw an interview with Bill Kristol (known neocon and Rubio pimp) the guy was so upset about the ideal that Trump might win. it looked like he was going to have a breakdown on tv.

These types in the party are really about to lose it.

His drastic shifts between denial and panic have been a great source of joy for me throughout the past few weeks of this campaign.  The prospect of Trump being elected horrifies me, but I can't help but feel a wonderful sense of schadenfreude to see people like Kristol being brought to their knees.
