This is the "loser"-effect....if you win an election, slowly over time people claim they have ofc voted for ya.

it was hillary's shot in 2016 cause she was built up for years....wouldn't work like that in 2020.

there is no silver bullet for this topic anyway.

and no "big lesson" for anyone.

what works in 2016 could possible not have worked in 2012 and wouldn't work again in 2020.

maybe the next time, the electorate is going to be so fed up with incapable blowhards, that even trump lites are going to be eaten alive.
