Watching UKIP fail to win any by-election is so, so refreshing.

They fail to win most local by-elections so I'm not sure how it counts as "refreshing". What's notable is that they have fallen back notably in the two Lincolnshire contests, presumably because there were more convincing local alternatives available.

The results page for Highland Council gives figures, but they're the figures on which each candidate was eliminated.

Briseadh iomlan, as they might not say in Inbhir Nis.

Following a couple of links gives a first count result but intuitive it isn't.

Lol Tories and Labour in 8th and 7th. Only in the Highlands.

Also, they seem to have ended the count once Barclay's victory was assured even though she wasn't at quota yet, technically.

They may have decided to let common sense break out in order to get the Christmas shopping done.

All the 'kippers on my Twitter feed were hyping their chances, hence their loss is made even sweeter.

Nowt like the smell of frustrated uninformed populism to wake one up in the morning.
