The day was marked by another tense debate in Parliament and very controversial decision of Speaker Aguiar-Branco: The debate was about housing with the presence of the Infrastructure minister, Miguel Pinto Luz, but other topics like the new airport were also discussed. Because of the new airport, André Ventura criticized the timetable for the construction of the new Lisbon airport, between 10-15 years, pointing that Istambul new airport was built in just 5 years and that the Turks "are not known for being the most hard working people in the world", which created protests from other parties:
BE immediately criticized Ventura's words, saying he was creating stereotypes that should not be part of the debate. However, Speaker José Aguiar-Branco disagreed with BE and said that in a democratic debate everyone can express themselves as they wish, thus guaranteeing, he said, freedom of speech. He also added he will not be a "censor" to what MPs say. This led the PS caucus leader, Alexandra Leitão, to ask the Speaker if is allowed for a party to call "lazy" or "dumb" to a certain race or ethnicity, in which the Speaker responded yes, as it's freedom of speech and every word said by MPs in this house would be judge by the people on the ballot box.
