When I read that thread and saw some of the comments, it made me wondering, what other countries do you think Mitt Romney can win if the whole world could vote?

The only places I can think of are the Philippines or Israel.

Obama has a 54% approval rating in Israel or somewhere around there. Romney is probably popular in a few Pacific Islands, Switzerland, China, the Cayman Islands, Bermuda, and Mordor.

Obama has a 54% approval rating in Israel or somewhere around there.

I imagine every American president would have had a >50% job approval in Israel for at least a couple of decades now.  54% actual seems rather weak, considering how close of an ally the USA is for Israel.

There was a poll a few months ago that had Obama running only 3% ahead of Romney in Israel, despite the fact that few of them probably knew who Romney was.  It would assume that Romney will be ahead by election day.  Though, yeah, there probably aren't many other places in the world that would have Romney ahead.  Of course, the more nationalist party in any country almost always does worse in public opinion in other countries.

Pacific Islands due to the Mormon factor.

Australia maybe? Abbott is leading in the polls there, lol.

I had no idea Mormons lived out in the Pacific Islands.

Never mind about Philippines, just learned he isn't doing so well there. Obama is too well liked in SE Asia.

I would say India now considering a lot of outsourced jobs the conservatives love to help out on go there.

Tonga in particular might have enough LDS to give a Romney victory.

It might help Obama that Indonesia is kind of near the Philippines, even though Jakarta is pretty far.

That might be too much nuance for a dirt poor Indian to care about. India is one of the poorest, least educated, and worst HDI of any country outside of Africa.

You guys are fools if you believe Romney would be "popular" in Switzerland.

Obama would destroy him by 80-20 (or if a real poll comes out, by about 70-10 with the rest undecided).

There's a higher chance that Romney hits the 30s or 40s in Poland or Albania/Kosovo.

All other European countries are at least 60% or 70% Obama.

I didn't say it was the lowest, just one of the lowest. In fact, a few countries near India do even worse, including Afghanistan, which has the lowest HDI outside of Africa.

The Pacific Islands actually have the largest percentage of Mormons in the world; Tonga is 17-19% Mormon, and America Samoa is roughly 1/4 Mormon, depending on who you ask. Mormonism is ridiculously prevalent there.

I've often pondered on a "what-if"; specifically, what if the LDS prophet had a Tongan Guard that's all LDS? Could be similar to the Pope having an all-Catholic Swiss Guard.

As I pointed out in the other thread Romney is far ahead in Egypt, though not due to his own popularity.

Georgia and Taiwan are possibilities.

You can't say that Romney is popular in country x because the local right-winger -- even if he's an insane lunatic -- is leading in the polls. Look at Canada, for example (though Harper is not leading all the polls).

I wonder why he's leading in Egypt? Was Mumbarak a left-winger? Oil industry? Lack of knowledge?

If I had to guess, and this is purely a guess, it is because they view Obama as an apostate Muslim.

If I recall it correctly, polls out of Egypt suck.

Rightwing Americans are popular everywhere there is big government oppression:

Leftwing Americans are popular everywhere that people hate America.

Note:  Romney's no rightwinger, although he has a few conservative acquaintances.

But he isn't a Muslim, so this guess is farce.
