Howard Dean fired him in '04.  He ran Edwards campaign in 2008.  He's about to lose running Moran's campaign in Virginia.  You can see his record here:

Considering that his background is heavily saturated in running campaigns' media strategies, feel free to look at the only three television advertisements on Brian Moran's youtube channel:

He actually cleaned up Deeds campaign when he got on board.  He got Deeds to move his HQ from Albany and into Charlottesville and got Deeds to stop trying to be everything to everyone but instead set specific targets among different regions and demographics, among other things.

But this question isn't about "Who your ideal campaign manager would be" since most people would get Plouffe, Axelrod, and Hildebrand on board.

I'm just amazed how someone who has made a long career in the media side of campaign activities could be part of a campaign with such awful media creations.

No, in the same way I wouldn't let Bob Shrum to advise my presidential campaign.

No, in the same way I wouldn't let Bob Shrum to advise my presidential campaign.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bob_Shrum#Non-Presidential_Races

Since 1985, Shrum has conceived and produced advertising (TV, radio, print) for twenty-six winning U.S. Senate campaigns; eight winning campaigns for Governor; the Mayors of New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Denver, Dade County and San Francisco, and the Democratic Leader of the United States House of Representatives. Those winning Senate campaigns include those of Alan Cranston in 1986 and John Edwards in 1998, as well as victories for Barbara Mikulski, Jack Reed, Tom Harkin, Jon Corzine, Harris Wofford, and many others.

In 1994, the year of the "Gingrich revolution," Shrum worked on behalf of two of the few bright spots in a tough year for the Democrats: Chuck Robb's victory over Oliver North in Virginia, and Ted Kennedy beating back a challenge from Mitt Romney. Shrum has also worked for Ehud Barak of Israel and the British Labour Party.

That's why I said "presidential".  Had I typed anything else, I'd look quite silly, wouldn't I?

It's not just the past.  Carolyn Maloney will hire Trippi if she decides to run for the Senate, and I'm just baffled why someone would do that.

I don't think you would need any help.
