Syrian refugees are far more religious than Turks and are quite strongly supportive of Erdogan compared to the more secular Turkish parties. So did Erdogan do this to boost his vote share?

Of course. Why else would he be so pro them staying despite public opposition? When even the Kurds are against it, that tells you something about the depth of Turkish opposition to Syrian arrivals. And yet Erdogan grants them citizenship and says that "Our door is wide open to them" and that "[Turkey] will protect up to the end these brothers who fled the war." Does anyone really believe he'd say that if these Syrians were instead Maronites, Armenians, or Alevis?

This is one of the conspiracy theories of all time. The refugees are not citizens, will most likely never be citizens, and cannot vote. YSP, who are literally the successors of HDP, are the only major Turkish party who do not want the refugees sent back to Syria.

This sounds a lot like a Turkish version of the great replacement theory
