So normally it's not a "freedom of speech" issue when somebody says or does something and gets fired from their job for it, but .... couldn't Kaepernick or another kneeler at least raise the argument now that it is a freedom of speech issue since the President of the United States is publicly advocating their unemployment?

I think this is the best compromise

If you don't want to stand for the national anthem ,that's ok but you have to stay in the locker room during the anthem .

In college football, at least in games I've been to, they do the national anthem before the teams run out onto the field. The NFL could do that and this would never be an issue again.

One thing everyone's forgetting in all of this is that Trump has had a grudge against the NFL for decades, back to the USFL debacle and how they wouldn't let his New Jersey Generals be an expansion team into the NFL.

In his mind, he's getting the last laugh if he tanks the NFL ratings.

Is he being coy or he is really so dense that he doesn't understand that the locking of arms is the same protest, but a little tamer so that conservatives won't foam at the mouth at it?

The Chicago Bears, a classy organization, stood shoulder to shoulder today for the anthem.  The Pittsburgh Steelers should be forced to forfeit the game for their actions.  Fortunately, karma is in Soldier Field today, and its not in the Steeler's favor.

Teams that linked arms (see: Bears) were showing unity in a response to Trump's attempt to divide. Owners of several teams joined them. It was a political statement.

Yes.  I didn't say otherwise.  It was a nice classy response. They stood.

So you don't care that the locking arms is the same gesture as kneeling, just PC-ified for foaming-at-the-mouth conservaflakes? It's just the literal act of kneeling that bothers you, not the protest itself?
