Now I'm starting to wonder if it's really Perez.  He could be a good pick for Florida.

It shouldn't. It should be someone like former Indiana Rep. Tim Roemer. I don't know if Perez is ready for the Trump onslaught.
You sure pull things out of nowhere.

Kaine or Perez make sense. I think Vilsack is a head-fake. Both Kaine and Perez could address a heavily Latinx crowd in Miami with fluent Spanish

But that's...that's not at all...ugh never mind I'm not going to bother.

The progressives plan is to nationalize the banks, or to abolish them so that the government can create prosperity among the non-producers. Regulate the banks, don't abolish it.

Huh Where the heck did you get this idea from?

Sanders and the far left make it seem that banks and free enterprise are evil, evil. You can't have a country without a free market system. Regulate the banks, don't abolish it or nationalize it like crazy.

Where/when did Sanders propose to nationalize banks? He always spoke of breaking up the big banks like Roosevelt did. I fail to see how you arrive to this conclusion and then cast it over an entire wing of left-leaning voters.

That's his ultimate goal, but he never spoke about it because he knew he would lose. Other than that, if not Kaine or Vilsack, former Indiana Rep. Tim Roemer would be good. He was an Ambassador to India.

You can't just make stuff up on what you think someone's views are.

I know I'm right. He has a problem with the banks. I agree with Sanders on some issues, but the way he demeans success and others I do not like.

Read a book called "The Big Short" by a good capitalist journalist named Michael Lewis and tell me if you still think Sanders is unfairly "demeaning success."  It's easy to think that that's what he's doing when you have no idea about the shenanigans that actually go on in the upper echelons of big finance.

Also, I take back all the lukewarm nice things I said about Kaine yesterday after that news story.  #Barf.

So, Vilsack wouldn't be an automatic Iowa win for HRC?

I'm really not sure how much he'd help Hillary in Iowa. He's been out of the governor's mansion for almost 10 years. He might give her a small boost, but if we're concerned about electoral math, Virginia is more valuable than Iowa.

Well, speaking as a Hoosier, if she were to pick Evan Bayh, Indiana would automatically be in play.  He's considered a political god in Indiana.  I'm not sure how popular Vilsack is in Iowa.

I'm not from Iowa, so I can't say for certain, either. Not many politicians are as popular in their state as Bayh is in Indiana, though.

I hope it's Perez. Still think it will be Kaine, though.

I'd be surprised if it's someone other than Kaine.

Back in 2008, when it was narrowed down to Biden, Bayh and Kaine, I wanted Kaine to be picked. This time it's diffrent.

Booker would also be good, just like Kaine, though I'm worried for the senate majority. Just hope it won't be Vilsack.

Everyone has a different top 3 every day. I am not buying it. Hillary knows who she is picking and her team is doing a good job of keeping the secret and knocking us off their trail.

The people in her team who know who Clinton's decided (and she has decided at this point) is likely limited to Podesta, Mook and Huma. Obama told only Axelrod and Plouffe that he had decided upon Biden before he made the phonecall (five days ahead reportedly if we want to compare timeframes), while an inner circle of speechwriters received a shortlist of three (Biden, Bayh, Kaine) to prepare for. It's impressive that her campaign has avoided even a final shortlist leak though - CNN/AP/WaPo/NYT with their differing reports clearly know sh**t.

Hoping for her to shock us all with either Franken or Becerra. Maybe even Warren, if Reid's calculations re:senate seat are correct.

For a fun exercise, read the Kos comments regarding the potential pick of Tim Kaine as VP.

Kaine, Brown, and Warren are announced as speakers at the DNC.  Castro, Perez, and Vilsack are not.

Take that as you will.

I take it as Obama not permitting cabinet members to speak at the convention unless they are the VP candidate

Obama banned his cabinet from speaking at the convention, so this could be a strike against Kaine and Warren, but it means nothing for the other 3.

Not really. Omitting Kaine or Warren would make it very obvious as well. Including the non cabinet secretaries and none of the cabinet secretaries makes it a wash.
