i am pretty sure this is not factual (since he maxed out florida anyway and is despised like hell in NC/CA), but since i accept his victory anyway, i don't care, besides the funny irony, that he raged against the EC in 2012.

Likely true.  Southern Illinois, western NY, non-urban California were all areas that Trump would have picked up huge numbers of votes with little expenditure of resources.

Clinton's ceiling was just about maxed, as evidenced by vast numbers of women showing up to vote for her just because she was a women--many taking their daughters to be cast that historic vote.  Those women were not deterred because they were in a non-battleground state.

I actually do not think Clinton OR Trump maximized her PV total out of places like California and New York. ALL voters (regardless of party) are deterred from voting when they live in a "safe" Democratic or Republican state...

He said the EC was a "disaster for Democracy."

Yeah, he's changed his tune on this, big league. When he thought Romney won the popular vote (when the west coast was barely reporting) he freaked out on twitter about the EC. Now he says it's a genius system.
