It looks clearly like the same map as it was in 2020 but the difference is NC maybe added as a blue state.

If Harris X is showing +2 Trump it's a 319/219 map TX and FL aren't voting D

As long as he's going to keep voting for Biden's nominees for the rest of the year I guess it doesn't matter much.

Manchin already stated earlier this spring that he won't confirm any more Biden judges unless they get Republican votes.  The possibility of any senate Republicans voting for further Biden judicial nominees probably went to zero yesterday.  Every confirmation from here on out could be a 50/50 affair with Harris tiebreaking.

Assuming Sinema doesn't devote her final months with some more grandstanding. I can't tell you how glad I am that we will get rid of them in congress soon.

The alternative to the Dem base putting up with senators like Manchin and Sinema is likely a quasi-permanent Republican supermajority.

Imagine actually believing this Roll Eyes
What do you think Democratic Senate majorities in the bulk of the 20th century were built on?

What kind of comparison is this? Republican majorities back then were also far more moderate than they are now, with northeastern Rockefeller Republicans actually being a thing. Likewise Dixiecrats held influence in the Democratic ranks through the sixties and seventies.

Needless to say today's political picture is entirely different, so I'm not sure what you're trying to prove with that statement.
Look at my posts in this thread together if you're confused about my argument, I've explained it well enough.
Have a good day, Sir.

(PBS News Hour - 31 May 2024)

30 Israeli's for 700 Palestinians.

That is nowhere near fair.

35,000+ Palestinians dead

>85% Gaza destroyed

Are you still taking about fairness?

Spare us the Hamas propaganda Roll Eyes

This means the Senate now has 4 independents, when was the last time it was so high?

What makes it cannier still is the fact that all 4 of them caucus with the Democrats.

Isn't this likely just in preparation for a run as West Virginia Gov, as is rumored? It would certainly make it easier for him to win.

Isn't it too late to run at this point? I'm not sure the filing deadline has passed (probably not), but either way it's an awfully late start if he throws his hat into the ring now.

I'd put my money on either a full out genuine retirement or lobbying for the fossil fuel industry.

If he wanted attention, he should not have chosen the "Trump is a guilty criminal" news cycle to announce this.

I somehow doubt the timing is a coincidence. Maybe he didn't want this to be as big a story? I'm not sure. Given that he's out in just a few months anyway, this is probably a ploy so that he's more palatable to the lobbying interests he'll be seeking to serve in "retirement."

I'm not familiar with Senate procedure on this, but if they can, the Democratic leadership should just cut him off entirely.
