Which group is even smarmier and more smug than the other? Both seem to have a disproportionate amount of the self-righteous within their ranks. Who are the kings and queens of self-satisfaction?

Ugh, don't even make me choose between the two worst groups out there. IRL, the progressives almost certainly as the other group doesn't exist in any meaningful numbers.

Ever listened to TYT, maybe left wing YouTube channels like David Pakman or Secular Talk? They define smugness.

John Oliver and Chris Hayes sure, but on the whole, most sanctimonious "moderate" Republicans, and especially foreign ones (Louise Mensch, Rogue Beaver) who have no stake in the process at all are even worse.

Socially Liberal Fiscal Conservatives who pretend to be Progressive Liberals. aka John Oliver.

Most Bernie fans and libertarians I've met are fairly tolerable.

Okay, maybe Mike Johnson is a competent parliamentarian.

Also, what did he do? Why are we supposed to hate him?

You didn't get 10,000 anti-Trump retweets from him.

Seriously, why is Louise Mensch so anti-Trump? And why does she and Rick Wilson send so many odd tweets to one another (with emojis and everything).

At least "smug" moderate Republicans largely own their "selfishness" (LOL, by the way).  They want to keep more of their own money and don't really care about the culture war stuff.  Elitist or insensitive or selfish?  Sure, whatever floats your boat.  Sanctimonious??  That adjective does not apply, IMO.

I'm going with the progressive liberals, who act like they're God's gift to humanity to save everyone from themselves.

Two FF groups. I prefer smugness to blind populism each day of the week.

Easily progressive liberals, especially since they have more influence to stretch their smug muscles.

There's actually no such thing as a moderate Republican - regardless of views - unless that politician exited office at least 25 years before whatever year it happens to be now.

This is something I've learned on Atlas.

That's not what I'm saying. You, actually, are a moderate Republican.

RogueBeaver, however, is not--and I say this as somebody who's fond of the guy. He consistently supports the most conservative viable options available in his own country, and he generally supports Republicans in American elections--something that most foreign right-leaners don't do, not just because muh Overton windows, but because there's a nationalistic rhetorical style to Republican politics that non-Americans find offputting and that it takes real commitment to one's right-wing politics to overcome.

Yeah, RougeBeaver isn't necessarily an extremist, but he's pretty firmly on the right wing side of the political spectrum.
