Lets see how far you and I agree on the issues Smiley

Assad's thread gave me the idea. If any, what is my 'label'?

Also, what party would you say I'm closer to?

My 'platform' :

-abolition of the death penalty Yes

-repeal of the PATRIOT Act No

-significant loosening of drug laws; outright legalization of cannabis No

-Canada-style universal healthcare Possibly

-significant electoral reform, and to encourage serious looks at IRV, PR, etc. No

-term limits No

-huge reform of immigration laws, to get rid of the waiting periods and essentially allow entry on demand (except for murderers and such) Yes

-extension of the new immigration laws to cover illegals already residing in the country; 'amnesty' if you will. Yes

-support port and border security and such, but oppose actual construction of a wall Yes

-stricter environmental standards Yes

-support for free trade under most circumstances Yes, but that doesn't mean to say that I'd not consider supporting protectionist measures if necessary to protect certain sectors. It's also conditional on certain political requirements being met or, failing that, at least, a commitment towards realising on the part of reciprocal nations

-balanced budget No

-general decrease in tax rates when possible, especially for lower and middle classes Yes, but only for the lower and middle classes

-simplification of the tax code; get rid of loopholes and such Yes

-increased efficiency in government Yes ; reduced spending in many spheres Depends which spheres , especially on defence No and 'pork' projects Depends

-end to corporate welfare and subsidies. Not entirely

-nominally supportive of abortion rights, but generally apathetic to the issue. No
