Delaware Gov. Jack Markell and Wilmington Mayor Dennis P. Williams endorse Hillary Clinton.

They were both holding out for Biden.

Awkward reference to Duffy as a "new member", saying he was elected in 2014...nice work, Roll Call.

Bill Maher endorsed Sanders a day or two ago (I think, I'm not really sure of the exact day or when his show is on - maybe on Fridays?). We all know that he donated no less than a million dollars to Obama's campaign in 2012. I'd personally say that he has the second biggest bully pulpit in all of the US, after Obama. So this could make a difference, could it not? I think Sanders is pretty flattered by this endorsement. Much more so than he was by the endorsement by Seth MacFarlane and other celebrities for instance, lol. Maher endorsing Sanders should mean a lot for him for reaching and getting to the polls the youth vote in primaries and caucuses, and especially so in more liberal states.

I watched the show and I'm not sure how much of an endorsement it was. He did say that he was going to donate to his campaign and liked him but he also talked about how the Dems had "two great choices," noting it was like having the option of "chicken of fish" and saying that in the end "if you can't get the chicken, you can have the fish".

HuffPo breaks it down

I doubt that Maher will change the race much, I agree with Polnut here.

Not among young liberal Democrats (and probably even some libertarians). I have some friends in Europe who are big big fans of Maher even though they're not overly interested in politics as far as I know. At least not anywhere near my level lol. Maher has the brains, and an enormous political devotion. You can't compare him with Jon Stewart, as he's mostly just trying to be funny. Stephen Colbert is somewhere in between, and extremely smart as well, but probably closer to Maher than to Stewart. Colbert is pretty political as well, although it's mostly subtle most of the time. The other comedy/tonight show hosts don't even deserve a mention I think. (Stewart is a bit of a lightweight to me compared to Maher & Colbert.)

O'Malley isn't a southern gentleman though. I don't think that he wouldn't gotten that endorsement if he was from VA or further south.

Schweitzer has always struck me as someone who doesn't care for the establishment. His running mate for MT-Gov was a Republican, after all.

Did you already forget how Schweitzer railed against Hillary like she was some kind of king ruling for 40 years already just a year ago? Wink That was the only reason that he decided not to run for president, because he was exposed as an absolute hypocrite again and again. Tongue

Having said that, I knew you were ironic. I just had to remind people of the actual truth lol. Tongue

LOL

I guess that's one less potential Hillary VP...

Anyway, it is surprising how much of O'Malley's support (at least among prominent politicians) comes from the West. If I recall correctly, his only congressional endorsement is Swalwell (Sad) from California, and he also has Hart and now Schweitzer under his belt.

Question of the day: who will be the first Senator to endorse Rubio (if any)?

Maybe Gardner or Flake, they could mesh with him.

Yeah, Flake might be a good posibility.
