We could use more discussion of Sheinbaum's campaign and any signs for the ways in which she is or isn't going to govern like AMLO. But yeah, this isn't a particularly exciting election for sure.

Kinda sad that this week we're having probably the most people voting in a reasonably free and fair election in a single week (Mexico+India+EU) and none of these elections are shaping up to be particularly interesting.

Yes Republicans want political power should be used to advance conservative public policy goals . That’s exactly why I supported him in the primary and why I think he’d be the most effective domestic policy president on the Republican side in the past 50 years outside Reagan.

DeSantis would have been an effective president only if you think that the biggest problems America currently faces are wokeness in the movies and that gays have too much rights.

Florida is doing extremely well under his watch and his routinely ranked number 1 for education and number 1 in place to start a business:

Anyway the reason hed be successful is he was the only one who had an actual plan too:

- Reign in the out of control bureaucracy and even move it in a conservative direction

- Reform Monetary Policy

- Make universities cosign on student loan debt(which would actually make higher education cheaper)

These 3 things would be huge and is something our nation needs.

Did they find dirt? I thought he was pretty clean - particularly compared to some of the guys in his intake. Best I can tell, the only colour in the reporting on Bell was his remarkable record of success on BBC quiz shows.

Anyway, his retirement was a bit of a shock. He was on the campaign trail and making positive noises about his future in politics less than 48 hours before he handed in his notice.

One of his 'quiz' show successes was Deal or No Deal, on which he won £25,000 in 2006. That was exactly around the time when I was a regular viewer of it. Even if I didn't watch his own game, contestants were in the 'wings' (I'm probably now talking a foreign language to those who aren't familiar with DoND) for multiple weeks' worth of episodes so I would have seen him at that time.
Didn't know this and looked it and found the episode he was on. I realise now I remember him - being Irish and about 10, I found it weird the way Noel pronounced his name (it's pronounced Arron in Ireland). Also features the legendary Lucy, who was 50 shows waiting to get her chance in the chair - and proceeded to win £5. Must be one of the few contestants who went onto be famous for other things - the other well known one is Olly Murs (who won £10).

I get really frustrated with this forum from time to time (and really, the American political media landscape in general) because it really encapsulates American decadence. Secularism has undermined the values that hold our society together. People on both the left and the right have forgotten what it means to use power responsibly and to treat everyone with respect. And now we’re approaching a point where people are calling for taking power by means of revolution- without considering the consequences of making violence a socially acceptable of political expression. God help us.
>”People have forgotten what it means to use power responsibly!”
>”why yes, I think Ron DeSantis should be the Republican nominee for President…”

Yes Republicans want political power should be used to advance conservative public policy goals . That’s exactly why I supported him in the primary and why I think he’d be the most effective domestic policy president on the Republican side in the past 50 years outside Reagan.

Day 9 and not had anyone mention Diane Abbott on the doors. I can believe some people care/have noticed, but the amount of media attention far outweighs it’s salience,

It is pretty cynical they all waited until they no longer needed to give her the boot. If I were her I'd pull a Northam and just stay in office. Dems are always so eager to throw their own under the bus to claim some kind of moral high ground.

Especially since this is just some nothing, BS scandal. Her family drama doesn't have any effect on her ability to represent her constituents in the legislature.

Were there a lot of voters who voted for Hlas thinking they won't back Fico, for some reason beyond me? And if so, have they stuck with the party so far?
