Nah. It's a great day for New York! But it is a sad day for you though. Not that it matters.

Agreed.  I couldn't care less what the opposition to equality think.  They're a shrinking minority who know their cause is lost and that the majority of people are on their side.

So why did Joseph Robach, who represents a 65-35 Obama district, vote against it?

This is a great day for New York, and a sad day for JCL is a great day for humanity.

Marriage is between 1 man and 1 woman. That's the definition that has been since the creation of men.

So before the creation of men, did it used to be 2 women?
There were no people at that point.

Marriage is between 1 man and 1 woman. That's the definition that has been since the creation of men.
Where does it say in the bible that marriage is between 1 man and 1 woman? Just because you can't have sex doesn't mean you can't get married.
Genesis 2:24
Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.

Look also at the books of Hosea and the Son of Solomon for further credence to this.

This is a sad day for New York.
That wan't what marriage actually was.  It was legal for a man to beat his wife, the wife was property of her husband.  That is the way it was.

Regardless, fact of the matter is the law is not based off the bible.

If you are all so glad for gays being allowed marriage
Then loosen the draconian gun laws.

The bible also says "You shall not round off the hair on your temples or mar the edges of your beard." Lev. 19.27 (one of many passages on cutting one's hair). So should we outlaw cutting your hair or shaving? I hope you're not cutting your hair and you better not be shaving.  I love the selective interpretation of the bible that people use to defend their positions.

And if you want to use a book to determine the definition of marriage then we can use a dictionary. From Webster's Online dictionary marriage is "Any intimate or close union".

This is a truly great day for New York!

Oregon voter referendum in 2012 seems to almost be a go. California, no. Prop 8 trial only (annoyingly). Maybe Maryland will try again next year, but that will go to a voter referendum anyway.

Good for New York state.

If there was a referendum to overturn this, would it succeed?

The gay anti-discrimination bill passed under a Republican senate as well... doesn't look too good for New York state senate Democrats. Tongue
