As discussed in IRC.

Anyway of course not. In fact I just realized that most operas are probably not age restricted, meaning it'd be far "creepier" to go to an opera instead of an 18+ or 21+ show...

Anyone who posts something like that separating the genres probably doesn't understand what I mean by "hardcore" and "emo", which has nothing to do with anything Jake Matthews listens to for one.

The point is that these type of shows I'm referring to are not what you're thinking of most likely.

Really the reasoning though for the "yes" is quite flawed. I mean like OK you have one guy who's 31 at a show of mostly high school kids. I can see why that would be creepy. But if you have an even distribution of ages between 18 and say 35, what's so wrong with that? And if a bunch of people over 30 are there, not just one? Well then the only issue seems to be a lack of living up to some bullsh!t societal expectation or whatever.

BRTD, are you sweating getting older? I know I am. I have the big "26" coming up later this month and I'm not looking forward to it.

Well obviously, I don't think anyone in our range isn't. 26 wasn't really a big deal to me though.

Emo yes. Hardcore yes. Punk no; start going when you're 30. Indie no. I grew up with indie in the 90's which took inspiration from the 80's so you'll often find a huge age range. It's a flexable genre.

Here's someone else who clearly doesn't know what I'm referring to with "emo" and "hardcore".

Like for example here's an emo band playing when they reunited after breaking up at the end of 1995. Does this appear to be full of high schoolers? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKOU_UUCVjc

Sweden is fun with their ABBAs, their  A-Ha's and "the final countdown".

And that's the end of Swedish music. Wish you go "back to basics" and start hitting a rock with a wood stick.
Clueless as all fuc and proud of it!

LOL yeah, Umeå in Sweden actually had a fairly legendary hardcore scene, and one of the most influential hardcore bands of the 90s: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Refused

Why would it be creepy? I see older people at bars all the time. And 30 isn't all that old anyway. It would be creepy if an older guy went to these shows with the sole intent of sliming all over young girls, but that's a different thing entirely. People of all ages are allowed to enjoy all kinds of music.

Actually per the half + 7 rule just about everyone at a bar is OK to a 30 year old (22 and up is fine), so even that's not much of an issue.
