So, Trump was in town today and my work was FILLED with his supporters, and some of them FLAT OUT said they wouldn't tip our servers because they were Asian and that they didn't see a point in giving their money. Oh and there were these guys who wore short shorts and shirts that spelt "TRUMP WILL BUILD THE WALL"

I got to meet Chris Christie today. Even though I'm not a fan of his policies, it's really easy to see why people considered him a frontrunner for President before all of the bridge stuff. He comes off as really natural when you speak to him.

Also, after around 20 years of living in this country on a greencard, my aunt's getting citizenship next week so she can vote against Trump.

My grandpa fell down the stairs and broke his humerus. He's 82, so it's obviously harder on him than it would be on someone younger Sad
I hope he gets better soon.
^^^^ Sorry to hear that.
...I know what you meant, but the way you quoted my post instead of Kal's makes it seem like you're sorry to hear that I hope Kal's grandfather gets better soon.

That is, for the record, not what I meant. Tongue

Thanks, guys.

As it turned out, those idiots at hospital didn't bother to check him thoroughly and he has some broken ribs in addition. But after being to hospital again, he's better. He can't lie down and then get up, so he's sitting until a special bed arrives tomorrow.

You know what's utterly f**ked up? We've had to call for four diffrent places to get a damn transport ambulance to come, and they finally sent a emergency ambulance by mishap.

I've already mentioned it elsewhere, but since this thread seems more relevant, I'll mention it here, too. From ~2005-2009, I posted here a whole ton as "SpeedOfSound". In my long time gone, I'm happy to say that everything has been well. I've been given the opportunity to pursue the dream and I'm currently living in Texas, well underway in my PhD work in Classics (specializing in Latin prose/Roman history). I've come back around because I still can't resist a US presidential election and I can apparently only understand and enjoy politics in the crazy way y'all have always done it. I'm so glad to see so many names still posting here that were already legends when I was originally on!
I remember you well. Glad to see your living up to the potential that you obviously showed, way back when, Flavius Belisarius.

In a somewhat optimistic sign I've gone on several dates (if people call going for dinner, and sitting in a park) with a guy I meet campaigning in the Labour leadership.

I feel like I've reached peak political nerd in the fact that the last three people I've been with I've meet through some variation of politics.

I think he's referring more to CNN's sudden obsession with third partiers.

No, I'm just shocked that Stein has the money to run TV ads.

Today at work (county courthouse), in the parking lot, there was a big pickup truck displaying a huge Confederate flag (next to a tiny US flag).

Rebel flags in northern, even liberal, states are of little surprise.

Yeah.  It's not something I see everyday, but I even saw it in Washington state once.

I'm sure you can find at least one of such nuts as far north as Vermont.

Bob Dylan is making a swing through Florida during Thanksgiving. I'm gonna see him in Clearwater with some relatives, as it currently stands. He's playing the night before Thanksgiving in Fort Lauderdale, and the said relatives will be coming down for Thanksgiving anyway.

But no, no, that doesn't work for them somehow. So we're going to drive literally across the state to Clearwater Tongue

I've discovered that looking at my old maps in the alternative elections board is an enjoyable pastime - but can someone explain to me wtf I was smoking?

My brother, before he went to rehab for round one in 2014, was friends with a young kid named Kelcey Riddick, a much younger kid who lived with his Grandpa and used to skate with him. He used to sell him bags of weed that was mostly just various herbs from our kitchen spice cabinet.

Well, as I found out from a former friend of my brother who ended his association with my brother after he twice got into trouble with him (once for dine and dashing at a I-HOP, the other time for grabbing a woman's ass in a park on a dare-my brother was not involved in that incident and did not get in any trouble beyond being present at the scene), that Kelcey is looking at serious time in the pen.

Apparently, in January, the kid lured a gay man from another town and then carjacked him at gunpoint with some other thugs and took him to a nearby ATM. The man fled on foot and the group retreated to a nearby Publix where they were arrested. On top of armed robbery and kidnapping charges, he also is facing conspiracy charges because his phone, seized as evidence, shows that he was selling some hard drugs.

And I thought my brother was the worst of the bunch.
