If you could change the winner of a Presidential election, what election would you change?

I would have to say 1976 to Ford.

Dole in '96 or TR in 1912 and maybe Bush in '92... But really I wouldn't want to anything changed because whose to say what would have happened under different circumstances its too big of a gamble imho.

John Adams in 1800
John Q. Adams in 1828
Teddy Roosevelt in 1912
Thomas Dewey in 1944
John McCain in 2000

You are right! I corrected it. I don't know what the heck I was thinking. I can't stand Harding.

1912-Teddy Roosevelt
1976-Gerald Ford (Ford rather than Reagan because that way Reagan still has the crucial years of the Reagan)
1992-George H. W. Bush

A quick item here ... for you guys who want to give '76 to Ford ... if you do so then odds are you would get Dole winning the Republican nomination in 1980 (as the sitting VP almost always gets the nom unless he doesn't want it ... and Dole definitely wanted it).

So if Ford wins in '76 ... odds are there's no Reagan Presidency.  I can live with it, but can you?

True, but who knows...maybe Dole wouldn't have run. None of us know for sure. By the way, Wakie, you wanted Al Smith to win in 1928 and I'm guessing you would have liked to see him re-elected. Well chances are if that did happen, the Dems wouldn't have their beloved FDR. I can live with that, but can you?
