The case discussed in the video is quite interesting.  Where do you stand?

Yes, definitely. They need more protections from abuse and humane practices. And overall some level of legal rights beyond that of typical property.

But then I am a supporter of animal rights organizations so it is a pretty easy choice for me.

Well, I agree, but I find it curious that not many Atlas members seem to care about this issue.

I want to say yes because they need to be subject to more humane treatment, and harsher punishments must be in place for cases of abuse.

I do not see them as "property", and think that they should be considered something between property and a full being with rights (such as a child), but I don't agree with the term "animal rights". I would prefer to agree with the term "animal welfare". That's why I didn't answer on the poll.

I'm not a big supporter of most "animal rights" organizations, simply because they have a long track record of hypocritical views about humane treatment (for example, PETA. They support Breed-Specific Legislation and have an insanely high kill rate, more than 80% of the shelters in the state of Virginia. They also have a long history of faking their video footage to support their stance, and have stolen and bullied owners into surrendering loved pets for euthanasia. Ingrid Newkirk has also made statements against pet ownership as a whole).
