Okay, folks, I'm going to try it again.  I'm going to start a Presidential Survivor game.  This game will determine who the collective favorite President of the United States is or was.

I will put them up 5 at a time, keeping each poll open for 48 hours.  Starting with the 6th poll (president #25), I will do 6 per poll for the last three to include the last three presidents.

The top 2 presidents in each poll will advance to Round 2.  This includes the 6 president polls.  That will give us an even 16 for Round 2.  They will be paired up 4 at a time, with the top 2 advancing, giving us 8.  Round 3 will pair them up 4 at a time, with the top 2 advancing, leaving us with 4.  Round 4 will pair them up 2 at a time, giving us the championship round.

This first poll begins now and closes at 8:30 pm CDT Friday, March 28, 2008

Even though they were all great Presidents, Washington takes the cake.

Since everyone is voting for Washington, I vote Madison to get him as the second one.

I have always been fond of Madison and thus I voted for him, though I will acknowledge that Washington deserves to win this round.

12 1/2 hours in, 35 1/2 hours to go in this first poll of the first round.

George Washington is in first, followed by Thomas Jefferson.  James Madison is a close third, though.  Adams and Monroe aren't doing too well right now with just 1 vote each.

Embargo Act = Jefferson fails.

Umm, what? Manifest Destiny was a concept that first arose in the 1840s that supported U. S. colonization from Atlantic to Pacific. The Monroe Doctrine was a completely different idea that arose 20 years earlier and stated that the United States would stop any attempts by Europeans to colonize or meddle in independent nations in the American continent. Monroe's Doctrine was not about conquering land and annexing it into the United States.

Anyway, by choice is George Washington.

After 24 hours, with 24 hours to go, George Washington has a commanding lead with 10 votes, TJ is in second with 4, and the other three are struggling.

As usual Adams is criminally underrated.

Washington=central bank
Adams=alien and sedition acts
Madison=War of 1812

That leaves Jefferson and Monroe. I choose jefferson, bcause he is so to speak the poster boy for liberty.

3 hours 45 minutes to go and Washington looks to be cruising to an easy win, and looks to be joined by TJ.
