Oakvale already summed up my thoughts pretty well, but I should probably add a few things:

A few things:

1) Given that Trump claims (who knows if it's true) that the court (presumably the FISA Court) ruled against an earlier attempt to do this, it sounds like new information came to light that led the FISA court (and presumably the FBI) to consider something Trump was doing such a serious potential threat to national security that they approved warrantless wiretaps for a Presidential candidate in October during a Presidential election year.  The fact that Trump doesn't see the implications of this and is tweeting about it means either A) he's simply making this up (always possible with him) or B) this is the clearest proof yet that we have a "My client may look like an idiot, he may talk like an idiot, and he may even act like an idiot, but don't let that fool you; he really is an idiot" situation with Trump.  Either way, this is a dumb lie to tell if it isn't true and if it is then it's a f***ing disaster for Trump.

2) If this is true, then it means that there are transcripts of the calls Trump made in October floating around.  The fact that nothing from those was leaked in October pretty much disproves the "muh Watergate conspiracy" nonsense, but it wouldn't surprise me if damaging information from them gets leaked now that everyone knows to start looking for them.  If this really happened then this is a huge (and potentially very damaging) unforced error, even by Trump administration standards.

Something is coming out.

Trump would not have reacted like this unless he had some inside info.

LOL

Trump reacts like this when he sees something on Fox News and likes it. He's like a dog chasing a car.

Quoted for posterity. I am not a betting man, but I think Trump has the inside info on this one revealing information on the locations that have been tapped. He probably asked if Trump Tower was ever tapped and found out it was.

We will just have to wait and see.

He tried to find out..

Probably it was Trumps famous instincts. He knew that an investigation was coming. The FISA order would eventually be leaked to the media and they would likely use it as evidence or indication of collaboration with Russia. The best defense is a [good] offense. Instead Trump could use this order now, if exists, as "evidence" of Nixonian "witch-hunt". Right or not, fair or not, America is so polarized that it could work [perceived that way] fairly well for Trump.

With "instincts" like the ones on display during the past week, I can see how he went bankrupt so many times.  Btw, if McGahn was doing that then he's probably gonna find himself in serious legal trouble as well since that'd be a pretty blatant example of interfering with an active investigation (presumably with the intention to tamper with evidence).
