My fellow countryfolk—

I would like to thank every South American who voted in the recent federal election. We had a very strong showing all around.

Per the results, I have had a very productive conversation with the Prime Minister, whose party won the largest number of seats in the election. During our discussion, I asked him and his Conservative caucus to attempt to form government as a minority. It is my impression that no other voting coalition will be able to command the full confidence of Parliament as government, so by the precedent established in other parliamentary democracies, I have first given the party with the largest number of seats the chance to govern.

Should the Conservative government lose the confidence of Parliament, I or my successor as President will confer with the Leader of the Opposition to determine if he can win the confidence of Parliament instead. In the event that the Leader of the Opposition cannot receive enough support to govern, Parliament will be dissolved and an election will be held.

Best wishes in the session ahead.

Sincerely,

HagridOfTheDeep
