These won't make a dent in Trump's growing GOP base.

Well, I guess this will be the final test. If the debate and $20M worth of attack ads don't work, then it's time for Rubio, Nate Silver, and the media to throw in the towel and admit Trump is inevitable.

God, that second spot is a thematic mess.

Those ads are awful. They might want to think about asking for their money back.

Neither ad seems all that effective to me.  The first one just states the obvious: that Trump knows nothing.  Duh.  I imagine almost all of supporters already know that, and don't particularly care.  They are supporting him because they want to have a strong leader and to stick it to the establishment.  The second ad is even weaker because eminent domain, etc. is too far removed from the vast majority of the lives of even the softest Trump supporters for them to care.

I would be surprised if this effort noticeably impacts Trump's numbers.

In the first one, the narrator seems like he's trying to hold in his laughter. The second one was utterly bland and unremarkable.

Jeb's Super PAC never spent big going after Trump, mostly they did pro-Jeb ads and some anti-Rubio and anti-Christie ads. Kasich's Super PAC has also dabbled in anti-Trump ads as has the Club for Growth, but nothing of this size. That being said, spends have to be larger because they are in multiple states now.

As many have noted, the time to spend big to go after Trump was before any voting started.  That is what happened to Gingrich in IA back in late 2007 which took him down and then when he came back the outside groups again took him down in Florida.

These ads are so so bad.  Is "I love the poorly-educated" going to become the new "you didn't build that"?  A phrase that's perfectly innocuous in context but gets ripped out of context and turned into a slogan and plastered everywhere so much that everyone believes the lie?

Why do they have to mislead?  Why can't they hit him effectively?  I'm not a Trump supporter but just by looking at the way they phrase the attacks in these videos I can tell there's a lot more to the story than what they're saying.  I mean everyone who watched the debate knows that Trump's "neutrality" on Israel only extends to the end of the negotiation room.

Regardless, do you think these ads will damage Trump whatsoever?

I was a firm believer that the establishment should have thrown the kitchen sink at Trump in NH back in the fall. Lots of endorsements for the mainstreamers. Super PAC attack ads, surrogates fanning out to conservative talk radio.  Oppo leaks to the MSM. Basically what they did to Gingrich, but bigger. Instead they did almost nothing because they were paralyzed, both fearing Trump's wrath and fearing helping Cruz, who they hate even more.

Now, I think it may be too late.  But they have to try.

I agree, the moment it looked like Trump was connecting, you needed to flatten him. The problem was that they a) took him a joke for too long b) were happy to keep him around for attention c) the Establishment candidates didn't f*** off in enough time for a consensus to form, now they're panicking.
