Yes, he does have an advantage because of the Republicans and Bush being so unpopular, but I do believe he has a great shot at winning. He should be 10-15% behind right now in the polls, but he's still within 5% even after Obama clinched the nomination. It's not good news that Obama can't seem to pull away. If McCain can hang around for a while and do well in the town hall debates, he can win this thing barring Iraq worsening or something else.

But to the overall question, yes, of course he starts with an advantage just based on the politcal environment.
