Notice the difference between Martin Van Buren, John Tyler and Zachary Taylor, perhaps our first three"modern" conservative presidents. I wonder how Grant, Hays, Cleveland, McKinley, the other conservatives, will play here.
Van Buren was associated with abolitionism by the end of his life, Tyler was literally a traitor by the end of his, and there's just not that much to object to with Taylor (that's specific to him as opposed to just a function of his situation and background), although I was surprised that he was rated
that highly.
Describing Grant as conservative strikes me as a little odd. Cleveland has seemed to play well on the forum in the past, and I know we've got some McKinley fans.
Lincoln was not without flaws but on balance is one of the clearest FF Presidents, if not
the clearest.
