On paper Bayh looks good.

- Experience, youth (sorta), moderate (therefore theoretically more appealing to "middle america'), possible electoral strength in IA and OH.

In practice however,
- quite dull, moderate tag will alientate him from the base (given that he said once he isn't entriely pro-choice) - basically I'm not sure he will get huge support.... plus his haircut...

To Senator Kerry:

I knew Ronald Reagan.

Ronald Reagan was a friend of mine.

And you, Senator, are no Ronald Reagan.

(To paraphrase Lloyd Bentsen)
Thats a good thing that he is no Ronald Reagan.

I think Winfield was refering to Reagan's political skills, not his policies.

To be honest, I supported Kerry from 2002 onwards because I thought he was the Democrat with the best chance of beating Bush. I then rooted for him in 2004 for the same reason. In other words, I didn't want a President Kerry, I just wanted Bush out of the white house, and I'm sure many others felt the same way. I didn't really like Kerry all that much, neither did I think he'd make a marvellous President. BUT, I thought, hey, if he's the one to kick Bush out then so be it.

This time around, things are different. There are many other Democrats people want to run for President, not because they want to get rid of the incumbent but because they genuinely want to see them in the Oval Office - Gore, Clinton, Edwards, Bayh, Clark. At the very least, Kerry has his work cut out.

I felt the moment Kerry pulled ahead, that we probably wouldn't win... Democrats need someone more charismatic, and that is something Bayh isn't either.

I'd love a John Edwards with expirience. My candidate right now is Russ Feingold, but I seriously doubt he'd win the nomination. My next preference would then fall on Edwards, and then Richardson and then Clark... Although if Gore ran, he'd lead my choices.

Hillary Clinton and John Kerry are not what the party needs in '08... Neither of them are dynamic leaders, and they are the Ice King and Queen...

Oh for the good old days of Bill Clinton.

How about a Bayh/Richardson ticket? Smiley

I like!  Cheesy

Hopefully, I'll have re-registered by then.
