If you want a clearer example of somebody who had entirely concupiscent reasons for starting a Protestant denomination, there's a great big honking example right at the start of my own church. A lot of Anglican theology is actually about the works of God in bringing good out of evil, because we're entirely aware of how sordid our roots are.
