In Louisiana, our Democrats are better than some other states' Republicans. The Democrats need more members like Breaux and Zell Miller. Then I may consider voting for them.
But would the 48% of America that voted for Kerry vote for a Republican like Breaux or Miller?
Oh, give it a rest already! Breaux is as much a Democrat as Ted Kennedy is. Breaux just had the sense to realize that emphasizing economic populism over social liberalism--both of them planks of the Democratic Party--would be better for his career as senator from Louisiana
I have to admit he is far superior to Miller. One wonders, did he merely pretend to be an intolerant for the voters back home but then support social liberalism when voting in Washington? If so I suppose we must acknowledge his heroic sacrifice.
well he did staunchly oppose the Federal Marriage Amendment and was the only senator who voted against tougher FCC regulations. And he opposed most of Bush's nutjob judges.
I don't know who I'd vote for. But I'd be happy that we'd get a decent president either way.
