AMERICA, AMERICA, GOD SHED HIS GRACE ON THEE, the song says.
God certainly has shed his grace on America, and blessed this nation. And it's all because this nation and its Government was founded upon Christ and Christian principals(sic!). In fact America's laws and principals(sic!) were fashioned after the Ten Commandments and the Covenant which God made with Israel.
No, they weren't. American law derives largely from English common law which has never pretended to be divine. Our Constitution, the supreme law of the land, does not contain the Ten Commandments or even references to God. If anything, idol-making, idol-worship, blasphemy, Sabbath-breaking, dishonor of parents, and covetousness are all protected by one or another section of the Constitution, including its Amendments.
What god or gods? We have done some scummy things lately, like lying to start a war, like allowing greed to oppress the helpless... but those can be described as war crimes or sliminess without any reference to the Divine.
Any such references are cryptic and extremely debatable.
Name one such reference: chapter and verse, please. The reference must unambiguously refer to America or at least some country to the west of the Pillars of Hercules.
The Biblical Prophets did not know about America, did not name it, and had no clue to any land west of the Atlantic Ocean -- not even the Azores.
Man of Lawlessness?
Nero
Commodus
Attila the Hun
Genghis Khan
Miguel de Torquemada
Adolf Hitler
Josef Stalin
Saddam Hussein
All dead, and all unpopular in America. The last four would have been genuine menaces to Israel if one means the Jews.
We stopped David Curtis Stephenson, KKK leader of the 1920s, thank you. So there is the #1 American candidate to have been the "Man of Lawlessness".
Why would a just and loving God try to deceive people into damnable sin and complacency therein?
